The late, great, Robin Williams

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

The late, great, Robin Williams

Post by marko69 » Tue Aug 12, 2014 11:12 am

RIP today to one of the best actors/comedians who has ever lived. From his voice as the Genie in Aladdin (best Disney film of all time) to his compelling and serious performance in "Good Will Hunting", he was just a pure genius in every sense of the word. So sorry to hear that he was battling severe depression and ultimately and extremely unfortunately, couldn't carry on. Thoughts are with his family.

RIP Robin Williams

I really don't understand these gifted people who waste their lives.

My thoughts go out to his wife and family who must be devastated by their loss.

Yet another terrific comedian with such a tortured soul. So sad. Those of you my age and up easily remember Mork and Mindy and what a fresh and funny comedian he was when he came out.

As with most comic genius ,lay a mask that hid his alcoholism & depression issues. Very sad news to a man that seemed genuinly so warm hearted.

RIP Robin

Hard to believe that one of the worlds funniest guys could be so desperately sad inside. The world will wake up less funny every day.

Even now, two days later I'm completely lost on this.

It appears he was also on the verge of bankruptcy, which after living a Millionaire life style for most of his life could have been the straw that broke the camels back.

I'm sure I read somewhere that his divorce cost him £20m.

That's enough to turn any man to drink & drugs.

You'd think royalty died the way it is being covered in the States. Though I guess in a lot of ways Hollywood celebrities are the royalty/aristocracy over here.

RIP

Recognized and established acting name but I was never really a fan of his work. Pictures like Good Morning Vietnam and Dead Poets Society were probably his best work and my favorite of all the titles he headlined.

To take nothing away from Mr Williams, i've battled depression myself for many years and can appreciate the struggle this 'disease' presents. Unfortunately it can appear there is often no way out.

Condolences to his immediate family and closest friends at this difficult time.
