WHO AM I. QUIZ

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

I only guessed Cyrille Regis as he came from French Guiana, and a striker, could be miles away from who it is mate.

To be honest Marco, Regis was a quality player but was never going to last long at the Mol.

OK, try this one.

I played in 2 FA Cup finals at Wembley over 2 decades.
I scored a winning goal v England
I won 5 international caps for my country.
My Country's manager at the time was Bobby Brown.

CLUE 2..

He played for Southampton in their victorious 1976 FA Cup Final against his former employers Manchester United and made the pass that set up Bobby Stokes for the only goal. He also appeared in the 1966 FA Cup Final for Sheffield Wednesday in a 3–2 defeat by Everton, and scored one of the Owls' goals.

It has to be James McCalliog ? The Sheffield Wednesday final thing gave it away in the end. Trebilcock, Temple for us etc.

It occured before you were born Mark. Just to add, that aforementioned final was a game to remember, probably the best FA Cup Final seen at the national stadium until Coventry in '87

Being quick, here is another personality to find :

#1 I was once a World Champion

#2 I reached near legendary status

#3 My life story was a rise and fall

#4 Another countryman also won a title around the same time as myself

#5 I met with a tragic end

#6 Only certain generations can really appreciate what I brought to my profession

this could be a tough one Saint. but my first guess is

Alex Higgins. Probably wrong as question 2 says “ I reached near legendary status” I looked on him as a legend.

I was once a World Champion..
1972 and 1982 World Snooker Championship.

#2 I reached near legendary status

#3 My life story was a rise and fall..

#4 Another countryman also won a title around the same time as myself...
Dennis Taylor Northern Ireland

#5 I met with a tragic end
Died of Cancer.

#6 Only certain generations can really appreciate what I brought to my profession

Damn it, you only gone and done it.

Yes it was Alex Higgins, the late great snooker player and 1982 World Champion.

Was going to add Clue #7 : My country has produced other established sporting names (George Best)

phew; if not Alex this could have gone on for ever.

Try this one.

I was born in a town named after a vegetable in Staffordshire.

I am right handed.

I won my first World Championship in 1980. and my last in 1986.

I was awarded the MBE for my services to sport.

Are you kidding me that was a right response.

In any event, we'll continue

#1 I can often be associated with particular colors

#2 I looked out of place for a time when someone signed me up

#3 I have played in major final events

#4 I have won the biggest prize my continent has to offer at domestic level

#5 My domestic achievements are perhaps more recognized than my international

#6 People will look back in retrospect and wonder how I was part of a team that did so badly

Nice bit of work there, Wolfie. I am hoping that is correct. These are getting way too difficult for me. Its turned into feckin University Challenge! I remember one night back in 1989, no one was in the house, and University Challenge was on. I got a question right. NO ONE WAS THERE TO SEE IT!

Apologies, saint Jude, just answering Wolfie on the Griffiths question. You are very good as a quizmaster, I must say. These, as we say in Scotland, are f**king solid! (Meaning difficult)

#12 They once made a song about me

#13 I saw a terrible injustice while playing a certain opposition

#14 I was moments away from a winning team before an opposition player stepped up

#15 My home nation has won World, and European Championships.
