Re: Pre Season Fixtures
Ah the requisite "play a handful of close season games against East London and Essex opponents" There'll be no glamour games you can understand that and would expect further additions to the list being say Braintree, Colchester, Dagenham et cetera. The latter would be a distinct possibility given association with Alf Ramsey.
Shame it's not possible to travel over the North Sea and take in some contests against maybe Ajax, Feyenoord or Anderlecht or they could make the trip to us. It's feasible is it not but once again maybe it's just too fanciful thinking. May have happened at some time or another but when we're not properly involved (and) in games of this nature some don't focus as they should or could be forgiven for any relevant oversights etc.

Morecambe or Fleetwood away in first game might work for your journey home!

Disclaimer: Thats “midges”. Small annoying b*stard insects. Not “midgets”. Just before the small people put in a complaint.

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
You know what Marko, last Two years been up to the Highlands for a week, first year March and last year August, never seen so much as a single Midgey despite all the horror stories, I do have my Avon skin so soft at the ready just in case.
I did however see a Midget in Oban munching on a whacking great portion of Fish and Chips, the greedy b*stard.

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
I’ve not seen a mosquito in Spain so far this summer which is somewhat strange, maybe they’ve all died of Covid or the jab fends them off. Hope I’ve not tempted fate.

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
Decent 7-0 win today in the 60min Needham game, can’t ask for more than that and good to see 22 players getting 30mins each.
Also nice to see some of the new lads finding the net.
Good run out for the boys.

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
Good to get some goals no matter who the opposition is, we'd soon hear plenty about it if we only scored One or Two

Him and Jackson are not quite ready yet after their injures last season. Probably see them in the latter friendlies.

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
Got thumped 5-1 by an Arsenal side with two mixed teams in both halfs, back to reality eh I can see West Ham and Millwall turning us over and Wimbledon won't be easy with Johnny Jackson ex Charlton in charge who's brought in some good players for their div 2 campaign, luckily it's only a team-building exercise for KM, we should be raring to go on the 30th

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
Yeah West Ham will be tough - and millwall possibly not easy either, I hope we have enough ‘morale boosting’ fixtures this pre season. I guess you want a mix of reality vs confidence boosters.
We need to beat Wimbledon and Southend.

Re: Pre Season Fixtures
I think this should be taken pretty lightly in truth. KM was looking at different players out of position/in different formations. Certainly Arsenal had one or two first teamers involved, Eddie Nketiah, hattrick scorer, being one of them. In fact i believe four of their goals came in the first half when they had their strongest team of the two halvesashfordblue wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 12:10 pmGot thumped 5-1 by an Arsenal side with two mixed teams in both halfs, back to reality eh I can see West Ham and Millwall turning us over and Wimbledon won't be easy with Johnny Jackson ex Charlton in charge who's brought in some good players for their div 2 campaign, luckily it's only a team-building exercise for KM, we should be raring to go on the 30th
Also being a training ground match the ball was virtually always in play too. I believe it was all about gradually stepping up intensity and team building, as you mention, and certainly Keiran would have learnt a lot more of potential frailties from this defeat.
