Re: Transfer Rumours
For me El Mizouni & Harper were always destined yo depart one way or another this season, Humphreys should indeed be loaned for the season while Camara is and has been since he arrived, pretty pointless so I can see him being shipped out which would leave us with a Midfield Five of Morsy, Taylor, Luongo, Evans & Ball which is very strong.

Fully agree!Mach_Polish_Blue wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2023 11:23 pmJack Taylor must offer something really special and be better than our other midfielders (bar Morsy) as we are overloaded in that area. But I'm pleased with it as he was our long term target. Plus MacAnthony's words about him today..... tasty![]()
Where does it leave our central midfielders?
1. Morsy - undroppable
2. Luongo - gonna compete with him for a place. At the moment though Luongo still deserves a starting place for the contribution he's made since coming in.
3. Evans - mostly very good when he played in the 1st half of last season. Dead ball specialist, good attacker, but...... and this is a very big but.....he's too injury prone so wouldn't be surprised if he left.
4. Ball - his injury hindered him last season. In few games he played he was solid but not spectacular. Limited. We weren't as dominant with him in midfield. If he is happy to stay with us that is fine but is he going to play much? Him leaving might be a sensible option at the moment.
5. Camara - I am still curious as to what he can offer. Described as a lively box-to-box midfielder when he was joining us. He certainly must be hungry to play therefore these pre-season games might be a good opportunity for him to impress.
6. Humphreys - there is only one sensible option for him for new season. That is going out on a season long-loan to a League One club.
7. El Mizouni - that's well and truly over for him at Ipswich. Taylor's arrival will have ended any slim hopes for him.
8. Harper - do I need to say anything?
So get rid of Harper (although he will be probably happy sitting on a final year of his contract), El Mizouni, Humphreys go on loan PLUS maybe two other permanent departures. If that doesn't happen then McKenna is going to have a big task to keep them all happy.

Darragh MacAnthony on Jack Taylor. He is one of the best young central midfielders outside the Premier League and I firmly believe he could propel Ipswich on a Premier League promotion run.

Re: Transfer Rumours
One of McKenna's rare mistakes, just hasn't happened for Ahadme, Camara possibly the next.

McKenna's worst signing. Signed just because he was a nuisance for Woolfenden and Walton when we were playing Burton away

Yes he did look very good that night, but it was Woolfy who has come a long way since then.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Apparently you’ve had a £4m bid turned down for Simms.
I’d say that says more about us being able to bring anyone in rather than the bid itself which I think is about right to be honest.
There are other championship teams sniffing about him so maybe we are trying to start a bidding war.
But that would mean we have competent people working for us and I can assure you we do not.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I don’t see Mark Ashton over evaluating Simms. We paid a lot for Jack Taylor, but he fits the mold. He’s 25 years old with much room to grow under KM’s tutelage. Yes we’ve struck out a few, Ahadme & Camara come to mind. KM knows what he wants, but it’s hard to predict which ones will make the grade. Seriously hoping we’ll sign one or even two CBs. I love Woolfy, but we’ll need reinforcements in the Championship.ijjysmith wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2023 8:30 pmApparently you’ve had a £4m bid turned down for Simms.

I’ve seen somewhere that he’s on his way to Coventry with one of their players going to Everton part exchange in the deal.

Re: Transfer Rumours
We will either up it or walk away, like we did with Taylor. Rumours are we have not bid for him, therefore someone is trying to up his price and using us as a bartering tool.
MA is pretty astute and will not go over what he is worth and he likes to keep things close to his chest, which is sensible and wise. I suspect they could also use this as a convenient distraction and we will come in with someone not already linked.
Whoever comes in will be a top banana though

Re: Transfer Rumours
I don't see Simms coming here, while paper talk is often over hyped anything over 3 Million for Simms would have me looking elsewhere, a year left on his contract and still with a lot to learn, for me 3 Million is a lot but worth the risk, nothing more. With talk that he prefers a return to Sunderland plus the possibility of a deal involving Coventry I see others much better placed to secure his signature, but then again we do have MA.

Clearing out the dross, Ahadme, Harper, who's next? Pigott, Camara, El Mizouni (not that he's dross).

Re: Transfer Rumours
Harper came in with a lot of promise following his good loan spell at Birmingham. Moreover, West Bromwich fans seemed surprised that he resolved to play in League One and said he'd rip this league up.
Still young, still a time to revive his career which has been on the on the slide.
Colchester game in the cup last year that was his chance to impress and his final act was setting up a goal for them.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Im just wondering about GE, he is a decent enough chap but he did seem a little dodgy at the back, maybe down to lack of playing time, im not convinced in his ability tbh. I would be looking to replace him and get in at least one, if not two quality CB's. Keogh is gone and just would be Woofie and Burgess for that position, if GE was to go that is.
You look through the team and in my eyes the likes of Ball, Evans, Camara, Harness, I would of said Aluko but he has signed a new contract, are decent enough players but do not set the world alight. Maybe this is something to address in the Jan window if things do not pan out for them.
It is going to be interesting who else is brought in so we can try and gauge KM & MA thoughts on the team as a whole.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Not much being bandied about rumour wise re defensive players. Which surprises me. I personally don’t feel we are strong enough central defence for this level. If McKenna et al think otherwise , fair enough . But I’ve to be convinced.
I know we’re linked with Simms, but I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Hirst back here.
Time will tell eh.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I too am not overly keen on George Edmundson, what bothers me is his involvement in a lot of the behind the scenes community stuff which by all accounts he is excellent at, does that suggest he won't be going anywhere just yet? Hopefully it wouldn't have a bearing on it.
As for defensive new recruits, I'd still love Anderson from Barnsley or Cashin from Derby, maybe it's being a bit hopeful with the latter.

A couple of good candidates for Defence Mike, Cashin stood out for me and would be my choice.
What about Mbete who was at Bolton on loan from Man City, would he be available and thoughts on him?

Yep another decent shout although I don't know an awful lot about him, he certainly won't be playing at for his parent club any time soon.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Three clubs in with loan offers on El Mizouni -Derby County, Charlton, Wycombe
https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/23620920.i ... l-mizouni/
Personally I think Derby would be a real challenge he could get his teeth into. Big crowds, experienced players and quite a decent manager.
