Surely he'd get a full medical review before any deals were made.

Walton out for months . Not sure how the hell he sustained this injury. Unless he’s had a steroid injection for pain relief. That’ll rupture plantar fascia.
Defence just hit significantly weaker .

Palace letting rak-sakyi go on loan, several clubs interested including Leicester Blackburn and Birmingham, taken from TWTD forum.

Wouldn’t mind him here, I do feel we need a major upgrade to burns on the right hand side - based on the quality Sunderland had - burns looked slow on the ball and isn’t clinical enough for this level IMO. If we could get another Broadhead on the right….jeeez

Re: Transfer Rumours
Fantasy landSince their relegation to the Championship was confirmed, Southampton have seen several of their players linked with possible moves away.
Tino Livramento is the latest player to leave the club, having joined Newcastle United, but there has also been speculation around James Ward-Prowse, Kyle Walker-Peters, and Che Adams.
But there is now a new name on that list, and that is striker Adam Armstrong. The forward has been at the South Coast club since 2021 and has just started his third campaign with the club.
The 26-year-old starred in Southampton’s Friday night win over Sheffield Wednesday last week, scoring the opening goal as the club claimed a 2-1 win. But that may have been overshadowed by the recent transfer speculation surrounding the player.
Who is interested in signing Adam Armstrong?
It was first reported back in April by journalist Alan Nixon that Ipswich Town held an interest in Armstrong, after having a difficult few seasons with the South Coast club.
However, that interest went quiet as Ipswich secured promotion to the Championship and seemingly focused their early summer business on other players.
But Nixon has provided a further update on Ipswich’s interest, with him revealing that the Tractor Boys are willing to splash £8 million on a deal for the Southampton striker.
Should this deal happen, it would be a club-record transfer fee for Ipswich, but it seems it may not be as easy as Ipswich may have thought when Southampton were being relegated from the Premier League.
What is Southampton’s stance on Adam Armstrong?
Despite, Ipswich’s willingness to pay £8 million for their striker who has struggled to make the impact they would have hoped for, Southampton are planning to keep Armstrong on board.
According to Nixon, Russell Martin is planning this season with Armstrong being part of his team.
The Southampton manager wants to use him heavily as part of the club's promotion push. Fellow Southampton striker Che Adams has been linked with a return to the Premier League, and therefore, if he does leave, it is unlikely Armstrong will be allowed to leave as well.
When does Adam Armstrong’s contract expire at Southampton?
Armstrong has been a disappointment for many Southampton fans, having only scored four goals in 53 appearances for the Saints.
Furthermore, he was in and out of the starting lineup last season under the three different managers he played for.
However, this season offers a fresh start for the forward as he is working under a manager who seemingly wants to keep him on board, and therefore, Armstrong can replicate previous form in the Championship and help fire his side back to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old joined the Saints in the summer of 2021 from Blackburn Rovers, signing a four-year contract, which means he still has two years remaining on his current deal, giving Southampton enough time to decide what they want to do with the striker.
We are yet to see how genuine Ipswich’s interest in Armstrong is, but it seems if they do make an offer, it isn’t going to change Southampton’s idea of keeping him at the club beyond this summer.

Odd, be weird to spend £8m on a 26 year old given our current model. What is the source of that article?

I really hope we don't splash that kind of money on anyone, at the moment. As we've said numerous times already, the market is completely overrated. I believe MA/KM can find affordable players that will do a good job for us at this level.

Seriously doubt that would happen. Town won’t be spending £8m on one player….

Any links or idea what they have bid?

I'll have a look.
Not since the days of Ken Wagstaff has anyone of sound mind wanted to go to bloody Hull, reminds me of Only Fools and Horses, " To Hull and back"

OK, so looks like he will come here then, on the basis its nearer London and undoubtedly the best team to go to
Whatever happens he would find it hard to better KM and our staff coaching. Will obviously come down to money.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Players talk to each other don’t they. It’s no secret what’s going on at Ipswich these days either. Of course it’s ultimately firm to his final decision but I doubt other interested clubs ( other than Leicester maybe) can offer what we can to a young player. The question he needs to ask himself is how much game time would hrr we get at the various interested clubs compared to us?Bluemike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 10:25 amThis is the link I saw, doesn't say how much but does say its up to the player himself where he goes.

Re: Transfer Rumours
He would certainly be in good hands here with KM and co for sure, would he get more game time here than at Hull ? I think that's doubtful tbh as Burns is quite a KM favourite.
As a side note I found it really odd that Kyle Edwards didn't even make the bench at Sunderland, not sure what that guy has to do to get a sniff of the first team, pretty sure he'll play tonight.

To be fair Harness had a better pre season than Edwards and is maybe a tad more predictable/can play a tad deeper when defeding a lead- thats my guess.
We have 3-4 players for the AML postion so someone will miss out. I thought Harness might end up being Chaplins cover but a couple of times now KM has used Hutchinson in that role and Harness remains as a AML option.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Harness did have a good pre season but I don't ever see him and Edwards competing for the same role, for me Edwards is really effective out wide which is not somewhere Harness can play.

yes, Mike, I also have the impression that Burns is a favourite of KM.Bluemike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 1:03 pmHe would certainly be in good hands here with KM and co for sure, would he get more game time here than at Hull ? I think that's doubtful tbh as Burns is quite a KM favourite.

Granted that KM sees a hell of a lot more of him than I do - bit it does mystify me somewhat.
Against Sunderland, it seemed to me that Burns made his mind up really early that he couldn't beat his defender, so he passed the ball whenever he got it rather than run with it. Sort of squares with his history in the Championship - loaned out constantly to lower division clubs. I think Shabba remarked that Burns dies not seem to have what is required at this level which I thought was a fair comment. It remains to be seen how many starts he is given before trying somebody else.

It wouldn’t surprise me to Edwards depart b4 the window closes. Because as you say he’s not getting a look in is he.

Re: Transfer Rumours
As you know I've not quite seen Burns in the same light as you since signing him which is fine, we all have views on things, however, for the first time on Sunday I thought he really struggled and looked a little lost, it could be just a one of or it could be he will find this level tough, should that prove to be the case then Rak-Sakyi would definitely be a good addition to the ranks. One thing we must respect is that Burns was up against Clarke who is a very good player and highly thought of, I think a few clubs have been trailing him.rossi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 1:49 pmyes, Mike, I also have the impression that Burns is a favourite of KM.Bluemike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 1:03 pmHe would certainly be in good hands here with KM and co for sure, would he get more game time here than at Hull ? Steady on Rossi, I said he might struggle at this level but I'm not giving him the death penalty

You have to wonder if Town have been courting the Palace player because they realise burns needs to be challenged?

Re: Transfer Rumours
No great surprise with Kyle tbh, is a shame though as always liked him, his pace and ability on the ball his a useful tool and can cause the opposition a real problem.
Sadly he has moved down the pecking order and for such a nice, happy, smiley chap he does deserve to play, just unfortunately not for us. I wish him all the best and hope he gets decent club that will play him, not sure if it will be in the Championship but can see someone like Orient coming in for him.
This also does look like there could well be another addition, like for like coming into the squad, time will tell.

Well said! Such a likeable guy, tried hard and had a bit of magic. Will wish him the best and always root for him to do well.
If he finds the right team he will be a key player for someone.

Re: Transfer Rumours
I think its a shame that Edwards is most likely on his way out, unless of course Rak-Sakyi is on his way here which I personally think may well happen
