Greaves out until Christmas?

Post by hallamblue » Tue Oct 22, 2024 10:47 pm

I don't know how accurate this is, but my friend has just told me this. Frankly if true, it could be difference between us staying up or going down, he's that important to our defence.

I came to a realization today, and I’ve decided to focus more on the future. We all want to survive the PL, but if we do go down we’ll get parachute payments. As much as it hurts to see us struggle, we’re still in a much better place than when Evans was the owner and we had to endure so many sh*t players & managers. I think it would be prudent to hold off on expansion plans for the stadium, and let’s just ride this season out.

For me Greaves & Morsy are our two irreplaceable and most important players, Jacob maybe even more so than Sam.

We may well struggle without him and Tuanzebe who between them had made our defending of set pieces a new found strength this season.

Even worse is the fact that both are missing a run of games where we had an opportunity to pick up points.

That is our best two defenders gone. Oh how a couple of bad results and a couple of key injuries can swing a season :(

I was’nt even aware Greaves was injured at West Ham. As best I recall he played the whole game including added time. Surely he didn’t carry on playing with an injured hamstring.

Some would say our only Two defenders lol.

TBH the Premier League is living up to everything I expected it to be, I'm not really enjoying this season much at all, the divide now is too great, add to that VAR, international breaks, TV pissing around with kick off times etc etc and I'll be quite happy when it's over. I go to football to feel good and be entertained, this league gives me neither.

Take 6 teams from the Championship, 8 from League 1 and 6 from League 2. I wonder if it would be more of less even a division than the Prem...

It beats being back in League One lining up against club names such as Swindon and Rochdale.

All right it hasn't been the best start, haven't won a game, the international breaks are a goddamn nuisance, but you can look upon it such as we're back after a 22 year absence and relief or whatever to just be part of it once again. Former club servants like Mariner, Phillips, Beattie, who are sadly no longer with us would be mighty proud to see the club name listed as Premier League right now after only knowing years of decline.

What we need is a Greaves of 1961. Some forward players aren't making best use of their abilities and if only for the idea, a player like that and from that particular timeline would propel the team up the league real quick by way of scoring ability. Add say Dyson and Jones for good measure but you get the idea.
