Premiership : Not quite the "Promised Land" .....?

Post by hallamblue » Wed Nov 02, 2005 7:50 am

...we are all led to believe.

I note that Sunderland have recored a £8.8 million loss and have a "nett debt of £40m". Sunderland sources say that their debt is as a direct result of their promotion push last season - (what the hell are WE worrying about then ) ?

What with this and Norwich's reported increase in debt, and doubling of their wage bill as a result of being promoted, one wonders if "promotion to the Premiership" is really the be and end all , that it's made out to be .

I get the feeling our Game is a time bomb , just waiting to explode, and perhaps a very big scalp will be going to wall be too long !

What do others think ?

Good points but we and the players want to be playing at the highest level possible, like anyone in there job we all want to be good at our job and play the best.Added to the fact that footballers have a short life at the top its only obvious that we all would wqant to reach the top level of football in this country.
I hope we have learned after what happened with GB and our short excursion into the big time, we would still invest if we went up but try to be more concervative with our money and players coming from all over the world that contribute very little to our club. The true value of a quailty manager can not be over estimated.
The most worrying thing for me over this season is the demise of the acadamy :( .It was our lifeblood and though many never made it it truely was the envy of many a club.Im worried we will just be another naaarrridge in a few years time, whereas Ive always known we were better by a longshot.
Promotion is a must but its by far the be all and end all.

What do you mean 'demise' PBB. The academy is alive and well as far as I'm aware.

must admit I am a tad concerned that Town have now lost funding for the Acadamy due to the sponsor going bust !

...and yes I want Town to be playing at the highest level PBB, but at what cost to the Club ??

It cant be right that teams that get promoted end up worse off financially - despite how careful they are (and norwich didnt actually spend that much on new players did they !!)
