McGoldrick winner in this next 45 will make that payment seem a lot sweeter, too.Dubai Blue wrote:OkYou've sold me.

Oh dear. But if you think that's unfortunate, have a thought for Gold 'n Black after they let in 2 in the last 5 to draw at the New Den.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Blackburn Rovers Preview
That result could matter come end of season. Sounds like it was 2 points thrown away. Hopefully Mick is feckin furious.

I'll take it, we're 6th as a result. Sickened, should have won it, but I really think we're going to challenge this season.Dubai Blue wrote:Oh dear. But if you think that's unfortunate, have a thought for Gold 'n Black after they let in 2 in the last 5 to draw at the New Den.
Forget top 6, I honestly believe we can aim for top 2.

I think that's right. Look at this weekend. Top 2 lose and we have another top 2.
I think the secret is not losing. Sure we will feel unhappy at that late one but keep the run going.....

When we cocede late goals so often they seem to be to set pieces..... but I guess that's when nerves start to jitter in defence and the opposition have nothing to lose.

I suppose in this case it was tiredness that conceded the free kick.

Typical should of said 1-1James Scharmann wrote:I was gonna say 1-1 but gonna be positive go for 2-1 to Town I hope. Also I hope we don't boo Jordan Rhodes after his antics down here last season, any booing will fire him up even more like was the case with Nugent.

That's because they are! I think about 8 of our 11 conceded this season have been from a set piece. Maybe more if someone can remember how Derby and Reading scored past us...Charnwood wrote:J4ck22 wrote:Yet again robbed of a deserved victory by a f**king set piece.

Tale of 2 halves again. First half both teams produced little to talk about. 2nd half Ipswich were much better and could of been 2/3 up before Blackburn got the late goal. McGoldrick denied a stonewall penalty which could of won it for us.
The ref was poor again why did it take 2 fouls on Sammon for the Blackburn player to go, he should of of gone first time!.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Blackburn Rovers Preview
So frustrating to let two points slip away in the dying seconds after totally dominating the second half, we had chances to put the game to bed and failure to take them ultimately came back to haunt us but Blackburn can count themselves so fortunate to go away with anything.
The first half was pretty uneventful and a draw at the interval was the right score, both keepers making a good save, apart form that there was little to get excited about.
The second was all Town as we seemed to step it up. Blackburn were rightly reduced to 10 men following the second cynical foul on Sammon when clean through, in fact on another day they could have been down to 9 but the ref was lenient. Didsy's goal was a beauty, a second would have killed them and we came so close to it with Hunt's effort being hacked off the line and then McGoldrick smashing the post, Smith alos had a good chance but blazed his header high and wide. As we pushed for a second we were caught on the break and Berra was left isolated which resulted in him giving away a needless foul from which the inevitable happended, it was the only effort of any note they had the whole second half and again for the second game running we are robbed of 2 points in the dying seconds. I was more disapoointed today than I was at Forest though as the Forest result was a fair one, today there should on ly have been one winner.
For me the positives were the excellent performance of kevin Bru who was my MOTM, while McGoldrick was back to his best too and scored a super goal. We extended our unbeaten run to 8 games and kept our place in the top 6 while cutting the gap between us and Norwich to a single point, we still have momentum going in to Tuesday's tough game at Cardiff who proved today that they have turned a corner. Frustrated yes, angry not at all.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Blackburn Rovers Preview
If we have serious ambitions for a play-off, or better place, then MM has got to address our frustrating habit of conceding soft, dare I say stupid, goals late in matches. No doubt our second half performance deserved the win; but the strange selection of subs, and tendency towards caution, probably contributed to the disappointing outcome.
Teams will know we carry this Achilles heel and obviously go all out to exploit it. However, it is curable, and MM/TC need to get on top of it.
That said, there are loads more positives than negatives in the way we go about our business, and there were some really good performances today; but we need to be honest about our weaknesses, and work harder to minimise their impact.

Re: Ipswich Town vs Blackburn Rovers Preview
here's some brfc thoughts
during the game
"Absolute rubbish. We've been abysmal. It would be an insult to Ipswich if we somehow managed to sneak a goal back. Their players have done everything ours haven't. "
and after
"Second half was absolutely awful. Ipswich looked like they had an extra man before the sending off. When we went down to 10 it looked like we had about 7 players on the pitch. We couldn't string 2 passes together. It was pathetic and Ipswich should have won at a canter.
On paper, to those who didn't witness it, it looks like a battling point. It was anything but. A fantastic bit of class by Marshall has papered over the cracks"
oh and they don't seem to like rhodes very much, which surprises me, although he was anonymous today.

** spoiled child voice ** That's right Mike, they didn't. And they chucked it against Forest too! Gerken & McCarthy the effin fk OUT!
Seriously though. Major kick in the nuts for ITFC today. Hope its not psychologically damaging to some of the players....., they deserved so much more from today......, well, 2 points more.
Having said that....., In my opinion, a draw @ Cardiff midweek would be a good result. COYB.
