Excellent win. Hopefully the injuries to key players are not long term.

We are top of the league!!!!!

Great way for Sears to cap his new 4 year deal scoring again tonight and McGoldrick getting on the scoresheet.

Only negative signs is Fraser and Murphy going off injured.

Top of the league at Portman Road !!! I didnt see that coming at Half Time as it had been about as even a game as you can get with chances at a premium. The Two defences had pretty much been on top with little goal threat, the best chance falling to kightly who cracked one against the post, hopefully Ryan fraser's injury is not too serious as he was hobbling quite badly.

The second half started much the same as the first but around the hour mark Town started to step it up and get a grip of the game, there is little doubt Brett Pitman changed the game, we finally started to win some aerial duels and of course his lovely cross for sears to stroke home, very similar to his strike on Saturday. The second wasnt long coming and it was that man Didsy who continues to defy myself and others with the second coming as he rose highest to nod home number two which saw the home fans go wild. Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Cole Skuse, Freddie Sears and brett Pitman all had very good second half performances, the defence stood firm and Mr Smith was again solid in pretty much everything he did, Bart puled off one fantastic save in the dying seconds which was actually the only save he had to make all game. One final thing, how well Jonas Knudsen has fitted into the team, we really have not missed Mingsy at all, everyone raves on about his long throws but for me it is his all round game that has impressed me most, his positioning is superb, his tacking solid, he gets forward to link up with the attacking players so well, all in all a very good signing and he will only improve further.

It is on nights like this that titles are won, we werent at our best for an hour but we dug in, didnt give much away at the back and continued to look for the opening goal which duly arived thanks to super Freddie. We have so mnay options which is just as well as we may have picked up another injury tonight, but in players like Didsy & Pitman to come in we have good cover. I still think we are only at about 75% of our capability and we are winning games against fancied sides, this lends itself to so much hope for the season ahead. TOP OF THE LEAGUE !!!

I won't get this time back, but the team did well today and has itself another important set of points. Top of the League indicates little at this stage of the season and just about prepared to wait a few months down the line to see where we find ourselves. It's where the club is at after nine months that's all important, not getting carried away after two or three fixtures

18,000 seems a little disappointing regardless of time of play but there is a promising foward line being assembled and once again am prepared to allow McCarthy another season to deliver. Keeping Sears on board for the forseeable future was a smart move and one or two of our players picked up slight injury also ? Can only hope they are back in action in a short time.

Great result with two very well taken goals by Freddie Sears & Didsy who appeared to be rooted to the spot when he cleverly headed the second goal.

I'm trying not to get too excited about the prospect of a first win at Preston since January 1980 when we won 0-3 in the FA Cup. In fact you have to go back
to January 1966 for our last win at Preston in a league fixture. Maybe a win there is long overdue.

Thanks for the fans report, Mike. Sounded like a very entertaining second half at least. According to Sky, ITFC were under pressure first 30 minutes, so delighted the defence had another confident and focused display. Maybe that 2-2 draw at Brentford was a blessing in disguise.

And hey......., who gives a fk about the Petrofac Training Cup eh? Concentrate on the league now! :D

Not sure we were under too much pressure first 30 minutes although they did hit the post, for me there was very little in the first half.

As for the Forfar game, the Red card and penalty did for us. Next midweek it is Hearts !!

The fuckwits usually take the League Cup seriously, but here is hoping The Loons smash the bstds. Certainly would shut the face of wee fat Jambo Andy down the merchants.

Thanks for the Knudsen comments, I was curious how he was doing. So if he passes the ball through a player's legs...should we call it a 'Knudsenmeg'? :)

I tell you one thing, IF we were bottom of the league there would be a fair few Town fans taking lots of notice of the embryonic league table while proclaiming we are crap, need to spend, need a change of manager, only bring in freebies and has been's, you name it, so for me I take great delight in where we are at the moment because it silences those knee jerk fans for the time being.

Have no fear, with 43-odd games to go 'They'll Be Back'! What sort of forum would this be without them? Just imagine winning game after game, playing brilliantly and winning automatic promotion without breaking sweat. Cue the 'aren't we just a boring old team brigade. Can't even buy a defeat!! (The words 'fickle' and 'football supporters' were made for each other!)

(Just removing tongue from cheek, btw)! Everyone's entitled to an opinion; every opinion is valued etc etc....pass the sick bag, Alice!) :D

What a great result! I was right in line with the cross and finish from Sears, it was a classy goal from a classy player. Getting him signed up on a long term deal is to Ensure the club can get a larger fee when the money bags clubs come knocking.

Wonder what he is worth now, his stock is rising with every game.

Last night was a great performance against a very good side. I thought we controlled it for long periods but lost our way a little when Fraser went off. They did hit the post but we can't go all game without teams having a good spell.

Putting our early position to one side, I am pleased with the balance of the team, if we stay away from too many long term injuries we have a good chance this year. The two games so far this season have been better than any other home performances from last season. Hopefully we won't get a game like The Wigan game from last season.

We need to get a result at Preston (a win or well fought draw).
Keep the confidence.
At home I believe we can beat anyone.
Away, win 1 in 3 and we will go up.
A decent run in the cups would also be very nice. :)

Vwery well put, and I agree re sears, he is turning into a very classy player, he is one of the few who has improved after taking a step backwards in the hope of moving forward again. I also thought Pitman was superb when he came on, with Murphy struggling a little to get up to speed it is great that we have these options, last year it was Nouble !!! The most importnat thing that you rightly comment on is the balance, it is spot on at last thanks in the main to the Two natural wide players, people are underestimating the influence jonathon Douglas has had on the team too, his arival has allowed Skusey to express himself more and he is putting in some top notch displays again. All very encouraging.

For those in the US and elsewhere having difficulty seeing highlights/goals there is an App for smartphones/tablets called Mobdro which enables you to get SkySports feeds.
The pictures sometimes freeze which can be a bit annoying but nevertheless it does work pretty well.
I'm going to be in Canada and the US during September and hope at least to keep up with goals/highlights whilst I'm there.

I'm visiting an old mate in Vancouver and then travelling down the West coast to San Francisco and LA ,hopefully with detours to Yosemite and Grand Canyon.
My Vancouver mate has promised me an MLS game whilst I'm in Vancouver. A month away...trip of a lifetime!

When Fraser went off up until the 65th minute roughly the game was boring me if I'm honest. But after then we looked really good. Pitman and AMN where expectional.

Looks like we played them at the right time as they have just signed Gray.
