I hope the guy can play CB or this signing is a waste of time except for cover as we have already unearthed a RB.

Yes it does, it looks like this McGhee is one of them, I just hope Jonny Williams isn't the other one.

I reckon it is McGhee and a goalie, probably that Reading bloke who was on trial with us. Will soon find out who if he is being honest :-)

That goalie doesn't do anything for me either, we have two average ones already.

Do not know if this at all relevant but seen the following on Sky transfers....

21:27

QPR GO FOR SMITHIES

QPR have made an approach to Huddersfield for goalkeeper Alex Smithies after failing to agree a fee for Southend’s Daniel Bentley, according to West London Sport.

Smithies was left out of Huddersfield's squad against Blackburn due to his transfer situation.

18:52

COTTAGERS 'CLOSE' TO NEW SIGNING

Fulham boss Kit Symons has dropped a strong hint the club are close to signing Bolton defender Tim Ream.

“We are close to a couple and until they’re done I’m not going to name names because you can tempt fate," he said after the club's 2-1 home defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

"Until the signature’s on the form I’m not going to say much detail. We are very close to one and hopefully close to another as well.”

13:17

REAM U-TURN?

After a £1.4m offer was accepted by Bolton Wanderers for defender Tim Ream, there could be a twist in the tale as he now looks set to join Fulham. That's according to NBC Sports.

According to their sources, it is now “highly likely” that the 27-year-old will sign for Fulham instead of QPR after they tabled a comparable bid.

Now I know we are looking to strengthen defence, could any of the names banded above be possible's?

Bentley of Sarfend would be a good call; however, with Crowe apparently set to go out on loan, MM is (according to The Ipswich Star) looking to add a 'squad' keeper. The Reading lad is therefore a possibility - albeit not a particularly exciting one. However, we may yet be pleasantly surprised!

Note that trialists GK Jonathan Henley and young ex-Stoke striker James Alabi both played in yesterday's U-21 win over Coventry. MM watched the match and seemed impressed with both. Alabi also scored in recent win over Leeds U-21s.

Cameron Stewart and J Parr also played - the latter also getting on the score sheet. No Henshall apparently.

Decidely underwhelmed by our new signings, will give them a chance but not holding my breath. You would of thought we would of splashed a little cash. Sure MM & TC know what they are doing.

The two players signed today won't be the ones that we have been after as MM and Ian Milne both said we were talking to clubs etc and these Two were released and as such unattached. The Hearts guy will definitely be one of them and that looks to be falling down. I am not fussed at all as I don't believe we need anybody else.

Agree but some of the money I would think is being used for new contracts for Murphy Sears and McGoldrick which is vital for Town

Weren't both of these players freed by their clubs? In which case they are not the ones we are " in talks with "(the clubs)

Understand now, did not engage brain lol.

I do agree to a certain extent we may not need reinforcements but I still think we need a little more backup and quality in defence, all it takes is 1or 2 jnjuries. Midfield will be ok when Bish and Hyam are back fit.

Actually with us using AMN & Fraser for creativity and Bru impressing before injury, it could be that we are leaving Bishop behind. The same could be said for Hyam with Scuse & Douglas playing that role (did I get that right with Douglas?). And we didn't mention Toure yet.

I feel sorry for the two youngsters and for sure it's too soon to write them off yet but it seems to me that the squad has far more quality than last year and these boys have been prevented from keeping pace by injury. They are unlucky indeed.

Bishop will be a big part of the team this season providing he gets his fitness issues sorted, I dont think for one second he will be left behind.

I actually don't think he will. He has chronic shin dpljnts. Which is an overuse (tibial fracture ) injury. Not think he will play a erythromycin measured role this season.
For the future -as long as he is managed correctly now, he will be an instrumental role in our midfield - assuming we hang on to him of course!

Sorry what have tibial fractures to do with shin splints other than a rare differential diagnosis? And erythromycin- mycoplasma, non gonococcal urethritis infection?

Certainly overuse injury but appropriate rest and physio should help resolve this.

Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome
Previously referred to as shin splints, this is a common and debilitating overuse injury in runners

What is it?

Medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS) is an injury that causes pain along the bottom two thirds of the tibia (shin bone). Although it is not classified as being serious, if left untreated it can lead to more complicated injuries such as stress fractures (Galbraith & Lavallee, 2009). The theories behind what actually causes the pain are controversial and unclear. Previous theories suggested that it was caused by periostitis (inflammation of the connective tissue surrounding bone) of the tibia, which was a direct result of excessive loading (Tweed et al, 2008). However, more recent research indicates that there are a number of possible causes of pain, including tibialis posterior, tibialis anterior, soleus and peroneal dysfunction (weakness), tendinopathy, periostitis and stress reactions of the tibia (Galbraith & Lavallee, 2009).
