Brighton
Only 6 weeks ago we were above them on goal difference.
Since then we have been in a terrible form and today Brighton have 12 points more than us. How on earth? The obvious thing is that they have ambitions. Unlike Ipswich Town they have ambitions. They're sensing their chance this season therefore quality in Knockaert has been added on last month. They weren't interested in the garbage like Varney, Digby or Foley to litter their team. They needed a quality.
Given Micks words that he's been MORE THAN HAPPY with our squad how on earth are we finding ourselves 12 points below Brighton?

Micks words have been baffling indeed but no-one would do better under Evans' policy.barmy billy wrote:He's said that and you recommend we can't better?Mach_Polish_Blue wrote:Only 6 weeks ago we were above them on goal difference.

Re: Brighton
I don't know how much money Brighton have at their disposal, I don't know who their owner is or even who manages the team, for all we know they could be swimming in money or not possess a pot to p*ss in, but realize they're having a fine season and giving themselves a chance few outside of Sussex could have envisaged back in August.Mach_Polish_Blue wrote:Only 6 weeks ago we were above them on goal difference.

You can put this down to players all pulling together, remaining consistent, and having the motivation and belief to achieve something. Kind of an indifferent team, I don't root for them but hold no malice either. If they get a promotion then more power to them, they would have deserved it.
Obviously possess an owner who's say - a little more 'ambitious' - than Evans.

Re: Brighton
Anthony Knockaert career scoring record 40 goals in 189 = 21.16% ..... at Leicester 16 in 106 = 15.09%
Daryl Murphy career scoring record 75 goals in 340 = 22.06% ..... at Ipswich 58 in 193 = 30.05%
Maybe ME & MM felt that we already had our Knockaert?

Did anyone realistically think he would be capable of repeating last season's form this time around?

.... but Anthony Knockeart is an attacking midfield player not a striker, his job is no make goal opportunities for the strikers not necessarily score them all himself. He's just the sort of player we could have done with, although in my opinion we need to get a bit meaner at the back and start getting a few clean sheets, that way we can win games with just one goal.

Re: Brighton
Chris Hughton isn't a bad manager. He's done well with Newcastle & Birmingham although he faltered at Norwich. What amazes me is how quickly some of these championship teams are turned around. A bit of money or a new manager seems to be the answer in most cases.
