Cannot wait to see you later Mach, hopefully rolling into Huddersfield around midday. we are parking up at the ground itself so i will head to the same club as last time which is about 5 minutes walk from the ground as I remember, loads of town fans in there last season, cannot remember the name of it but it looks like an old warehouse from the outside. Will contact you when we are there.Mach_Polish_Blue wrote:I'm going to Huddersfield tomorrow and fully expect to see us beaten. If football and 90+ minutes was the only reason I wouldn't be bothered tomorrow, I'd stay home then.
But I always enjoy the social side of away days and this is keeps me smiled. After a long week at work you love seeing your ITFC mates, spend pre-match/post-match time with them, discuss all things Ipswich etc etc. Really can't wait for that tomorrow and it's going to be yet another good away day experience. Been enjoying that myself for many years (though Jewell era would fill me with the fear due to many humiliating defeats).
When you come back home after the game and enter ITFC messageboards you mainly reflect on the football game you've seen. Doesn't matter if you are happy or frustrated, the away day experience is always fantastic so despite expecting defeat I can't wait for tomorrow to see Town mates and they're the true Ipswich Town, not 11 mercenaries on the pitch.
As for the game. 2-0 Huddersfield. We're gonna struggle against their passing system. Gonna be a shower of hoofball from us, sideways passes between back four and then hoof and 'lets see what happens' approach.

Maybe, Mike, but whoever was in goal had no bearing about us not having one shot on target against Hull - that, I believe, is solely about lack of creation.bluemike wrote:I have always prefered Gerken to Bart, Bart has played well in the last few games but prior to that he was pretty average and liable to go to sleep during games. It's going to be tough on Saturday @ Udders. But a draw at the very least is do-able. What are your reasons, (or any one particular reason) why you'd prefer Gerken in goal over Bailkowski, Mike?

I think the question should be does the goalkeeper have confidence in the back four?rossi wrote:Maybe, Mike, but whoever was in goal had no bearing about us not having one shot on target against Hull - that, I believe, is solely about lack of creation.bluemike wrote:I have always prefered Gerken to Bart, Bart has played well in the last few games but prior to that he was pretty average and liable to go to sleep during games. Have a great day out guys, beer, food, (maybe some decent football) and most importantly, a good laugh......., but hopefully not AT the football witnessed!bluemike wrote:Cannot wait to see you later Mach, hopefully rolling into Huddersfield around midday. we are parking up at the ground itself so i will head to the same club as last time which is about 5 minutes walk from the ground as I remember, loads of town fans in there last season, cannot remember the name of it but it looks like an old warehouse from the outside. Just in from golf and a very pleasant surprise to find Town 1-0 up....
Three points today would bring a few smiles back.

Just got the score, how the hell can the team be in front ?
Huddersfield have had two-thirds possession, four times as many shots, but we somehow have a lead.
The new Pringle kid with a strike, this could be a worthwhile acquisition. This could be just the score needed to rejuvenate a play-off charge - do not let them back in it.

The kid's now been removed from play by McCarthy ? He's provided a goal and made the difference, so at least allow him time to show what else he can contribute. The team still appears to being outplayed often and could be a bit of a steal if we can keep this going until full time. (If the possession ratio is anything to go by the opposition will get back into it sooner or later, so get your acts together out there)

33% Town possession
18 shots vs Towns 5.
We are living on the edge.

What odds can you get on a familiar Town defensive lapse in the final minutes and opposition goal.
That's what concerns with moments left so just going to tune this out and hope we can hold on to three much needed points.
Sears off and Digby on, not much time left to make an impact.

Fuckin' A, there's a victory. Not sure how we did it in the end but a win's a win.
Four points off the play-off zone with a game in hand, we may yet just make it.
Also - it's not necessarily about moaners James Scharmann, people are entitled to their opinion about the team, good or bad, but from what I could ascertain from today's game, we were fortunate get a win and outplayed for long periods - today's game was in so many words, something of a steal.
Add to that a (again, fortunate) win over a mediocre team from the lower reaches of the league, not to mention the sequence of poor scores from previous games, then you're going to have people come on and voice opinion.
The three points today could prove a difference between top six and outside and the play-off places by end of season, but truth be told, maybe got away with something today we didn't truly deserve.
