Yes a good read, he obviously doesn't mention it in the article but big Sam was treated very poorly by the home crowd and it is little wonder he found the going tough at PR.

He'll not be unique in that area though. All players get their share of negative opinions chucked at them....... But some get more than their fair share. After reading the article, sounds as if it was just a case that he wasn't living up to previous "acts". Which is definitely a downside of the game for any player.
But you'll never change how fans can get at times, and players really should be able to deal with that. It's, unfortunately, part of the game. And it's actually better now than the 70's/80's. I actually feel too many players are wrapped in cotton wool. As players, they need to be more like Yogi Hughes; a massive fk you to all fans and play the game they know they are good at.
