Real sympathy for the player and the opportunity was there after Murphy's departure to make a name for himself and playing a pivotal part in helping the team back to a promotion challenge. Wish the kid every success in his recovery and hope to see him feature again as soon as able.

The team's not scoring enough lately is clearly evident, so players such as Sears, Best and Varney will be required even more. McCarthy's failure to sufficiently cover Murphy's exit with better attacking options in the recent loan period could retrospectively prove more harmful than initially thought.

Varney's injured as well
As for MM's failure to cover Murphy's exit, The club were doing everything up until the close of the window to get a replacement in, its just other clubs knew time was running out, and didn't want to leave themselves like we find ourselves in. There is no loan window after the transfer window shuts. so when the window shuts that's it.
My biggest worry is can we stay in/near the race until the Jan transfer windows opens, I know their working on deals as we speak, but lets face it(for me) the biggest worry is we let Murphy go without having a decent replacement already lined up and deal done.

Good points. But I think that we were right to take the money. It is unlikely that it would be offered again for a player of Murphy's age. We will have to manage until Jan.

BTW I think we can take out of contract players at any time. Maybe MM is looking at this also.

Yeah we can take on freebies, Peter Odemwingie(spl) is a free agent, so he could sign for us if we wanted him to, not sure if we could afford him, or even want him, he's just one I've seen that needs a club
