Have not viewed today's odds and favorites list. Got it down as either Hurst or Ross will be appointed, any other candidates would appear to fall by the wayside.

Lampard one final time would be a considerable risk and if Evans possess any sense or belief he'd discard any further interest in the name. Nothing personal, (but) it's for the future prosperity of the club.

Lampard apparently interviewed for second time on Friday. Now second behind Ross, with Hurst in 3rd place, according to TWTD....... :astroll:

But Ross also interviewed by Slumberland, whilst also being offered an improved deal by his current employers. Bum clenching stuff!

I just wonder when ME mentioned - a long time ago- that we would appoint a manager after the play-offs, if he would have more options available. We effectively now are hanging on for Paul Hurst.

Since then the Cowleys, Cook and Mowbray have ruled themselves out.

As Mike stated, the reason we’re hanging around is that Hurst is already in the bag. I hope that’s the case because things have changed dramatically whereby we’re not alone anymore musing over and cherry picking any promising manager.

Its perfectly plausible we could lose out on Hurst and Ross ... and Lampard could decide he’d prefer to be a pundit or wait for a more higher profile offer like his mate, Stevie G.

I’m not too keen on the Lampard option anyway, but outside these 3 favourites... I’m struggling to find someone realistic I would like as manager.

One things for sure... ME knows he’s got Burley/Butcher as a safety net, because no one else wants them.

Shrewsbury win play-off final = Jack Ross to ITFC

Shrewsbury lose play-off final = Paul Hurst to ITFC & Jack Ross to Shrewsbury.

Mevans appoints the loser! :D

Who said we didn’t make the play-offs? We seem to have something pretty heavily invested in these play offs.

ME picks up phone.

ME: “ Paul, commiserations on the defeat. Look, we’ve meaning to talk to you ... actually for some time now .... “

Hurst: “ Mr Evans... sorry to cut you off, but a vacancy has come up at Derby. It’s a great opportunity and I’m heading there now.... thanks for the call. The interest was definitely a compliment”

ME dials again.

ME : “Jack, I’m pleased to inform you after great consideration we’ve decided you’re the man we want” .
Ross: “ Mr Evans .... I’m currently travelling to Sunderland. Sorry, they seem pretty keen. sh*t loads of money there. Talking of money, have you reimbursed my travel expenses yet for the two interviews.... just to tide me over until parachute pay day?”

ME dials again and again and again ....

ME : “Alan, hope you’re keeping well ....”.
Pardew: “ I knew you’d call... I can do the press conference tomorrow”.

 you know this could bloody happen    that sure would p*ss off a tidy few fans if Pardew arrives, we've had this scenario before with players we've wanted to sign, left it far too late, ( on purpose) just to mug the fans, and land up with a load of old tat,

Markus phones Ian Holloway, are you still available Ian,

Ian Holloway: I'm on my way my lovely (in his Brizzle lingo)

Seems I'm one of the few who would not be unhappy with Holloway actually. But seeing how things are going I'm getting a good feeling from the apparently well informed little titbits that are currently being released presumably by the club. So hopefully you won't all need to slagg me off over that.

I think the betting odds are a waste of time.

It’s been reported in the last couple of hours (TWTD) that Lampard is out of the race as he couldn’t agree terms. And it’s a two-horse race between Ross and Hurst( if they’re available and want the job). Yet.... just looked on BetVictor and Lampards been made 2/1 favourite and Ross has dropped to 3/1. Could be down to the fact that Ross is now favourite for the Sunderland job.

Apparently, Ross is now on holiday. Would be smart if Marcus loaned him the use of his Bermudan property as a kind of retainer.

Can’t see anything happening this week .... just don’t take it too seriously and keep the bollocks flowing.

Ross would take the job if offered it good to hear and being away on holiday is great news as that buys us time to interview Hurst on Monday or Tuesday of next week, one of these will be announced next week, welcome to Portman Road PH.

Ipswich Town are nearing the end of their search for a new manager, with Jack Ross and Paul Hurst the two major players and an appointment possible next week.

It is understood owner Marcus Evans shortlisted up to nine candidates for the vacancy, but it is now a two-horse race between Ross of St Mirren and Shrewsbury’s Hurst. The Ipswich owner has previously stated he expected to make his appointment at the ‘end of May or beginning of June’ and it’s understood news could come next week.

It would now be a surprise if it was not either Hurst or Ross, although it is believed no firm decision has been made at this stage.

Ross, who is currently away on holiday, is also thought to be interesting Sunderland while St Mirren have offered him a new deal in a bid to keep a manager who guided them to promotion last season. However, this is not expected to have an impact on Ross’s ultimate decision were he to be offered the job.

Hurst is currently preparing his Shrewsbury side for their League One play-off final clash with Rotherham at Wembley this weekend, with no official approach made to either the Shrews or their manager at this stage. That approach is expected to come in the days following Sunday’s game.

Frank Lampard was one candidate to have impressed Evans significantly during his two meetings with the Blues owner but Evans is thought to have opted to pursue a manager slightly more advanced in their management career. Evans’ focus has always been on younger managers looking to progress in their careers, but the Blues owner has spoken to potential candidates throughout the game.

Scott Parker, currently working in the Tottenham youth system, and ex-Spurs boss Tim Sherwood were both interviewed, while the likes of Shefki Kuqi, George Burley and former Sunderland boss Simon Grayson were not interviewed despite expressing interest in the job.
Thank god for that highlighted piece !!!

This is starting to .......you know what, can’t be ars*d to say it!
I would actually be pissed off with this.
I said on this board 3 weeks ago, that I thought Lampard would be the new manager, with 'Arry as director of football. I still think that will be the case
Thankfully not happening mate.

Tangtastic s little swarey hits nail on head......Both these managers are in demand and who ever offers the best package they will go for. The ONLY thing that in my opinion ME will be willing to offer either of them is "TIME" to develop and deploy their respective goals. ME couldnt agree terms with greedy Lampard..Sunderland i feel would. Ian Holloway is a fair shout ,cos he has always held this club in high esteem. Reports that some have not been interviewed is miss leading. SOME have not yet been 2nd interviewed. I dont believe Marcus will get his man unless he meets his demands......

Then it’s obvious we’re nailed on to get Paul Hurst OR we’re messing around and dithering whilst other clubs are being more decisive.

It’s obvious we’re after Hurst, because we set a deadline surrounding his season being complete. Could be an agreement behind the scenes in place with Hurst.... that would hopefully be the case.

If we’ve been messing around and just hoping Hurst is coming here then I’d say it’s pretty shoddy.

I’ll give ME the benefit of the doubt for now, but losing your no 1 choice or back up plan is a blow.

Keep an open mind peeps. There may yet be some surprises.

I don't say this be cause I know anything, only because since MMs arrival at the club it seems to have learned to keep things quiet until they are done & dusted.

Look at all the 'reliable' comments online that Ross was certain to take ITFC if offered.

Keep the faith and bear in mind that ME's preferred choice may not necessarily be yours or mine, but what do we know :-)

Even if we have been waiting for Hurst it's perfectly possible that if someone like derby went in for him he may decide against us anyway.

Bit worried at the moment. I feel like if we wanted Jack Ross as first choice we would have got him. We are clearly holding on for something but I feel we are taking quite a big risk.

By the way did you read that BBC article and what the St. Mirren owner said:

From BBC:

New owner Stewart Donald confirmed Sunderland had "agreed terms and the contracts are with the lawyers".

However, St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott has said there has "been no contact from Sunderland".

He said: "Jack is on holiday. So unless there is some major skulduggery going on then it's nonsense.

"To hold talks with Jack, we would have to grant permission, but we've had no contact from Sunderland at all."

Maybe the new owners of Sunderland didn't know that they are supposed to contact the club first?

DB, I can only reason that ME’s preferred choice is Hurst due to the time-frame he self-imposed.

I can’t think of anyone else who’s caught up in the play-offs.

I think if we get anyone other than Hurst then it wouldn’t be a preferred choice.

I’ll hold of getting the “Hurst’s Blue and White Army” tattoo just for now though :)

 What a circus this is turning into! And I’m laughing at all the members with their tuppence ha’penny worth, NOT ITFC. I’m sort of with Charlton slightly here and borderline worried. If Ross or Hurst are lost to Sunderland or Derby and the club end up with an old timer, will be fkn pi$$ed off.
