Hindsight is 20/20, but Italy are by far the strongest team left in the tournament. I can’t see any other team beating them, of course I hope I’m wrong. I love how Italy quickly develops attacks, and how fearless they are in defence. England need to pay attention.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Tonight was the first time I’ve seen Italy play in Euro 2021 and I must say they looked very impressive, however I absolutely detest their gamesmanship which borders on cheating and for that reason alone I hope they don’t win The Championship Trophy. On tonight’s performances I can’t see Spain beating them in the SF which suggests a most likely Italy v England Final unless we find ourselves a banana skin.

Like I said before, England needs to up the their game if there’s any chance of winning the tournament.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Yes, i hate to see the gamesmanship displayed by Italy. It was embarrassing to see Immobile feigning injury until he realised his side had scored, then he was straight up on his feet.
Felt for Spinazzola picking up an injury, thought he looked exceptional in a talented Italian side. Perhaps the ageing defensive pairing of Bonucci and Chiellini could be seen as aa a weak point solely from a pace aspect, but neither rarely put a foot wrong.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Switzerland have been a breath of fresh air at the competition but even they will admit the best team won today. Not all pleased about having to face off with Italy in a semi-final, that 4 - 0 Final game in 2012 was epic but the team won't come close to that achievement this time around. Not really expecting to win so any loss will be softened or realized ahead of time. That Swiss goalkeeper (I) don't know who he plays for at domestic level but what a character, they're not one of Europe's big hitters but he and his team really put themselves on the map the past few days. Sorry for them in a sense but Switzerland in a 21st Century tournament Final game just doesn't appear meant to be.
Picked Belgium to win it from the start, that ideal is now out the window. One of soccers nearly men they've never won much or anything at international level but come close a number of times. As pre-competition favorites, they got to be disappointed.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
An Italy v England Final now looks a realistic outcome however we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves as we know from previous events that QF’s and SF’s don’t always go to plan as Spain almost found out last night. Let’s take each game as it comes starting with tonight’s v Ukraine who haven’t yet kept a clean sheet. I’m sure they’ll have a game plan in place to make it very difficult, let’s hope Gareth Southgate has another that see’s us go through.
Although it would be a bonus I’m not overly bothered about the entertainment value, this is ko football with the result being all that matters.

IF we get to the final - and it's a very big IF - then I hope we do face Italy in it. I think we'd have a better than even chance against them.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 10:41 amAn Italy v England Final now looks a realistic outcome however we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves as we know from previous events that QF’s and SF’s don’t always go to plan as Spain almost found out last night. As for the gamesmanship, simple solution - the referees ought now to be wise to him and therefore will not stop the game if he goes down, plenty of opportunity therefore for opponents to kick f*ck out of him all night

You’re absolutely right about the “Big If” Rossi, anyone who needs reminding of the dangers of being overly confident need only to look back to Euro 2016 when we were humiliated at Wembley in the Round of 16 by lowly ranked Iceland who dumped us out of the competition with their completely unexpected 1-2 win.rossi wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 10:59 amIF we get to the final - and it's a very big IF - then I hope we do face Italy in it. Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
Yea, I guess he didn’t play against Germany as they know too much about him. I’m disappointed Saka is nowhere to be seen but can only guess he’s injured. In Southgate we have to trust to get line up and tactics right. Expect Grealish to come on as an impact sub and Henderson late to make sure we see out any final stages.

Re: EURO 2020 / 2021 CHAT
I read somewhere Saka is injured. Even though I'd love to see Grealish start, he certainly has been sucessful as an impact sub. We have a few players on one more yellow before suspension...could be a concern if we reach the semi.Charnwood wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 7:17 pmYea, I guess he didn’t play against Germany as they know too much about him.
