Re: Ipswich Town vs Portsmouth FA Cup Preview & Matchday Thread
Apparently Portsmouth are way ahead in terms of possession and this is disappointing to see especially with home advantage.
Feeling in a sense as the game progresses maybe it would have been in our better interests had we been drawn away at Fratton Park (such is our questionable home form) but still ample time to put things right.
Add to that they appear to have created more chances than ourselves, so there's going to be an immediate improvement required if we really are to progress from this game today. I care little if a Portsmouth player puts one in his own goal and we sneak through by one goal to zero because of it on the back of a poor performance, but in truth, the nerves are becoming frayed already, and we're not even at the interval as yet.

You would think Ipswich were the League 2 side after that First Half.

Scharmann finds humor in odd places, that's all you really need to understand.derick_ipsw wrote:What is so fu*king funny?James Scharmann wrote:Oar scores first goal for the club but Pompey equalise straight away
Missed the two goals scored, and still not happy with how this game is progressing. OK, wasn't expecting to win home by four or five goals - but this is too close for comfort and as before, they're still out in front by way of possession and even on TWTD it says the players have been disappointing.
See Sears is available for selection from the bench - it may be time to introduce him soon.

You have to laugh as always with Town we make it difficult, think yes with scored but no typical Pompey equalise straight away.
Hope that clears things up....

Some 10 minutes left in change and only seeing this out as wouldn't want to miss out on a winning strike before end of play. Sears now on but clear struggle it would appear due to the omission of other recognized attackers. Maybe a replay wouldn't be such a bad thing given our away record but was ideally hoping to finish this in one attempt.
Eastleigh (Hampshire ?) beating Bolton Wanderers of all things today. And - Norwich 0 Manchester City 3 also..

Unbelievable - OR IS IT - I mean, this was always likely as the game progressed..
Ok, so we get an equalizer on the back of this, and take it to a replay... Live in hope I suppose..

Don't say that, the opposition could still score a thirdlucy wrote:5 mins added on. Still time for a winner
This is one goddamn crazy finish, I just want this game over now and we'll take a replay. Ok we may not have won as expected, but salvaged a draw with time running out and from what I could ascertain from the game, were outplayed for long periods.
Got a corner kick, come on someone head in it and get this over with.
No, it is says Full Time and the game is now over.
Bloody hell that wasn't pleasant, but we salvaged a replay - maybe undeserving - but Portsmouth gave a fright today and no mistake. Relief that we're still in it - but mixed with anger and frustration that we played maybe poorly and were unable to see off this opposition at one attempt.
Those at the game, go to the nearest drinking establishment and kick back and relax - we're still involved in this competition by some miracle.

How did Digby play? The team's always gonna struggle with Mick making numerous changes. I'll be interested to see what the team is for the Fratton Park replay. Of course, I'm not really bothered now because if we struggle against League 2 then what's the point!
