Btw - I still think Chaplin has something to offer the team in support of Delap... just saying!

And Szmodics when they are both fit again which will be in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Saw this on twtd and I thought he'd made a good post tbh ... focuses the mind as to our recent dealings:

Two decent transfer windows running in which we have added:

Select signings:
- Greaves: 24 years old. English. 23/24 Championship team of the season
- O'Shea: 25 years old. Current Irish international
- Hutchinson: 21 years old. Current England U-21
- Delap: 21 years old. Current England U-21
- Ogbene: 27 years old. Current (before injury) Irish international and Irish player of the year
- Szmodics: 29 years old. Current Irish international, 23/24 Championship golden boot
- Clarke: 24 years old. Was in the mid-year 23/24 Championship team of the season
- Philogene: 21 years old. Current England U-21

That's before you add the Swedish, English (x2), Paraguayan internationals we have brought on loan.

Ignoring loans, we have made 1 maybe 2 transfer mistakes (Muric and Johnson) and have sought to rectify the big mistake in the January window.

And yet here we are, with many of us flouncing away that we may reasonably likely be relegated back to the Championship, completely ignoring the fact that this was the most probable outcome at the start of the season.

We may be a yo-yo club for the next couple of years, but the transfer strategy strategy has been executed to near perfection. Leicester will probably go down, still reliant on the goals of a 37 year old Vardy, whilst we can stand back and let 3-4 clubs fight it out for the hottest young striker in English football.

Agree with both of these ..... this maybe why we didnt splash the cash on another striker in this window.....

This poster is correct and it is indeed where we are and not a disaster but as we all know, it could have been even better with a few tweaks at key times!! If that makes me negative then so be it - it is also factual!

I think some of us said we'd prefer the Championship before the season started, you also said it to me Saturday Hallam, not sure what the prat means by "flouncing"

Anybody who thinks we will bounce back up straight away, if or when we are relegated are in for nasty shock 😲 we will find it much more difficult for couple of reasons.
1. Confidence is shot
2. Teams have definitely worked us out now.
😲🤔🫣

100% of me hates your stats Ricco but probably 0% of you cares! 😂
Brutal  I think I need to post more stats then, see if I can get you back on side!!

A comment on this page of posts... I think expecting to be a yo-yo club is unrealistic, I think we're far more likely to not come back up, and actually get in a bit of a mess with finances and momentum. So I think it's huge that we stay up this season, but hey, consider the Championship is a decent league, it wouldn't be the end of the world, I just think this is a unique opportunity.
