Re: Silly Me or Brave Me
Wasn't even aware they were involved today let alone know who the opposition could be. Had a look at their fixture list and realized it's one of the fifth round games in the FA Cup tournament.
United haven't won this competition since 2003 - 04 which is perhaps strange for a club of their stature but today represents a chance to progress and get a step nearer to winning back that elusive trophy.
At Old Trafford it would be a clear run but they have a tendency to struggle against lower league opposition away from Manchester. I can't see Preston winning tonight, the best they can hope for is a replay and face the inevitable in the second game. Of all the teams left in, I would without question favor them to win it over say Arsenal or Liverpool (especially the latter) but hope Aston Villa do well also as they've had little to get excited about just recently.

Re: Silly Me or Brave Me
It's a relief that the away team went through. I want Arsenal eliminated and don't think Preston could have caused two successive upsets had they won through this. This way Manchester United should start favorites at home for the sixth round game and we can take it from there.
There was a game just like this back in the 90s when Wenger was fresh in the job at (then) Highbury and they went to Preston also in an FA Cup game. The home side took a 2 - 0 lead, a big upset was looking likely, but the North London side went on to win 4 - 2 by end of game. I can recall to this day one Arsenal fan mentioning : 'we gave them a two goal start, in order to make things more interesting'

They were involved in a league cup semi a year or two back or may indeed have reached the final of all things, but there's little chance they will win this years competition. Really you can't look beyond an EPL side taking the trophy but once again would prefer Aston Villa or Manchester United to do it over any others. It's probably written in the stars that f**king Liverpool will do it as it's Gerrard's last season and he goes out with a bang, but can only wait and see what occurs.ashfordblue wrote:what price Bradford to go all the way and win the cup????????? would be a good bet if they either play the final on Blackpool's pitch or if Wembley cuts up a bit
