Where are they now......
Typical Sunday morning post this!
After doing my usual Sunday morning routine of checking all the results and looking at various reports, (before Columbo!) couldn't help but notice a few ex Ipswich players scoring goals yesterday:
Connor Wickham for Palace, (defeated though)
Paul Anderson for Northampton in a 6-0 FA Cup win
Liam Trotter for Bolton in a 1-0 FA Cup win
Frank "Nouble with the double" for Gillingham in a 2-2 FA Cup draw.
And Darren Bent scoring the winner v Wolves, sorry Wolfie!
And err, Ryan Stevenson missed a sitter for Dumbarton yesterday. Ex Jambo ersehole!
Made me want to do a "Where are they now" thread. And I'm meaning those who started the 2009 season...., the legend that is Roy Keane; his first dismal season in charge.
Richard Wright - Retired
David Wright - Colchester United under 18's manager
Damien Delaney - Palace
Gareth MacAuley - WBA
Grant Leadbitter - Middlesbrough
Owen Garvan - Colchester United (and only 28? Thought he was about 43! Been around for ages!)
Lee Martin - Gillingham
Pablo Counago - Alondras CF
David Norris - Leatherhead. (No, I'm not calling him that. That's where he's now playing.)
Jaime Peters - no club (29 years old)
Pim Balkestein - De Treffers
Jon Stead - Notts County
Jon Walters - Stoke City
Jack Colback - Newcastle United
David Healy - Linfield manager.
Was indeed a shocker of a season, but the fans were in for a treat......., the imminent arrival of Tam Pish Pishflapskin was about to happen. The joy!

Re: Where are they now......
What about Jordan Rhodes? He was still just with us at the start of Keane's tenure. Just enough time to take a dislike to Jordan's dad and offload Jordan to make way for Tampax.
The Jordan Rhodes wound that never heals!!!!

I think Wiki only listed the actual playing squad including the bench. Don't think Rhodes ever made a Roy Keane team did he? Maybe someone could throw some light on that.

If memory serves me right ... He had pre-season games... scored winner in the last one... then surprisedly transferred just before season started.marko69 wrote:I think Wiki only listed the actual playing squad including the bench. Surprising how many of those players ended up in the PL.

Re: Where are they now......
Four Prem League players there + Jack Colback who will no doubt be back there next season.
That's four more than Mick McCartthy's squad is ever likely to play at the highest level.

Even Alex Bruce got game time in the PL.
Just shows ... different management/ clubs can make different players.

Re: Where are they now......
Yip, even more proof that Roy Keane is a shocking manager. He had 4 or 5 PL standard players, and he couldn't get them to perform. Especially MacAuley. I thought he was ok, but not great. But I think he's a very good player these days at West Brom.
