Mason Greenwood ….
If people don’t want this thread on this forum please free to delete, but I’ll be honest and say I’ve not really taken any notice whatsoever about the details surround this case. There seems to be regular accusations levied at professional footballers re sex attacks, controlling behaviour, aggressive behaviour etc so thus just seemed to be “ oh, another one of these!” So I paid no attention to it and I know next to nothing about what supposedly happened.
But my question is, if all charges were dropped and he was apparently cleared of any wrong doing by the police and Man Utd, why then, is the club looking to move him on if he’s done nothing wrong? Or has it been a case (as is so often the case), that the woman involved decides not to press charges and the police can’t take matters forward?
As I say if admin don’t want this on here please feel to delete…. But wondered what people’s views on MG continuing in the game and would you want him here if McKenna ( who must know him well), told Ashton, “try and get him”. Do you think McKenna would do this?

I bet there is more to it and Man Utd know it, a bad apple possibly.

As Mike said I would not be surprised if there is more to it. Certainly wouldn't want him here and with the way the club is run now in terms of it is not just a players ability that is taken into account when making a signing, I would be amazed if the powers to be would even consider it.

Re: Mason Greenwood ….
My take is because the women he was abusing dropped it, doesn't mean there wasn't a valid case against him.
If you've listened to it, which could be tip of the iceberg, you'd probably think, yeh, I'm not sure I want that kind of character at my club.
The other point is about fresh starts, perhaps it's just best for everyone if he heads to a new city with a new attitude and everyone puts that chapter in the past.
But yes, it's a interesting point, when people have been found innocent or have done their time, that they continue to be excluded for the rest of their lives. If the crime has a 3 year sentence, isn't it meant to be deemed that that is sufficient, otherwise it would be a 5 or 10 year sentence? It's not a 3 year sentence plus discrimination for the rest of your life?

Re: Mason Greenwood ….
I think it’s pretty obvious that Mason Greenwood did some unpleasant things to his partner which she foolishly shared on Social Media. At the time he was also playing around with other females which got into the public domain and blackened his character as did another incident when he was away with the England squad which resulted in him being sent home from Iceland for having local girls in his room in the team hotel. I accept it’s difficult for a 20yr old lad with loads of money turning girls away when laid on a plate but that’s what’s expected of you and as a professional you have to conform.
I think the key to charges being dropped were his partner at the time and alleged victim asking police for the case to be dropped and refusing to give evidence without which there was no case to answer.
As Mike says, he’s clearly a bad Apple which doesn’t fit the image most Premier League clubs want. If he wants to resurrect his career it’s probably best that he does it outside the UK possibly returning once he’s cleaned up his image and proved himself both on and off the pitch.
I definitely wouldn’t want to see him at Portman Road, his presence would be unwelcome and would be too big a distraction.
Hopefully this has been a massive lesson learned for him and other young players and that he’ll now be able to move on and make the most of his exceptional talent as a footballer.

Re: Mason Greenwood ….
I'm a firm believer in being innocent until proven guilty. It's supposedly the bedrock of the great British nation
Who am I to judge? Even if the facts proved him guilty, I still dont have the right to jusge him personally.
As I understand it, the 'victim' decided not to press charges. Maybe it never happened, then: maybe it's been the same for countless famous people whi have had such charges flung at them years and years after the alleged event.
As far as I'm concerned, accusations of this nature should have a time limit, and anybody accused of such things should automatically be granted anonymity until proven guilty, because sh*t sticks.
I'd say the reason for Man Utd not wanting to keep him are the several prominent patrons who declare that if he stays they will stop supporting the club, and of course money talks. Shame on those people for saying that - hypocrites and bigots all.
He's not been proven guilty - therefore in my eyes he is innocent and I would have no problem in him playing for us.

The facts are out there, you can go listen for yourself. You're old enough to be wise enough and experienced enough to judge someone aren't you? Your judgement doesn't carry much weight, you don't have the right to convict and sentence him, but it would be a weird world if we were never allowed to judge others.

Re: Mason Greenwood ….
I agree with this completely. We live in an age dominated by the tabloid press who I despise with a passion. They do anything to ell newspapers, intrude on people's personal lives which shouldn't be the concern of any of us, and twist everything to create a headline. A "news" paper, by definition, should give us news, i.e. facts and truths, not conjecture, opinion and lies. They interfere in our politics, telling people how to vote, why the immigrants are responsible for all the country's ills, when they are actually far more responsible themselves for our problems, all owned by non-doms who pay f*ck-all tax on their profits. Anti-press rant over.
I have no idea what happened in this case. But as has been stated earler, once an accusation has been made, the truth is irrelevant, a life and career have been ruined. That may be deserved, it may not, but with anonymity it wouldn't matter unless proven guilty. And when that happens, even when you have served your time it is never forgotten.

No, I don't have the right to judge anybody even if I am in possession of all of the facts. What makes me better than anybody else? Nothing - we all live by personal standards that are individual to us. The only person who can judge us is God, and that will surely happen on the day of judgement that will come to us all.Ricco wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:50 pmThe facts are out there, you can go listen for yourself. You judge people on here all the time, and in life hourly, which is fine, everyone does, to claim otherwise is just virtue signalling, for want of a better phrase! You can still have an opinion on people's actions, because you will even if you try not to.rossi wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 4:49 pmNo, I don't have the right to judge anybody even if I am in possession of all of the facts. Re: Mason Greenwood ….
Not to go off-topic again…….. but i really REALLY REALLY wish that this God character (who will judge everyone one day apparently) would step in and intervene and SAVE all the defenceless children of this world…… the toddlers tortured and the weeks old babies left in the hands of the Lucy Letbys of the world. When i say “SAVE”, i mean actually save them, prior to their painful death.
IF YOU’RE THERE….. SAVE THEM.
Back to Greenwood…….. purely from a selfish “whats good for ITFC” standpoint —->> best not going there. Will only bring negative press (to the football club) from the tabloids AndyM speaks about.

Re: Mason Greenwood ….
She’s a psychopath Mike….
And if she hadn’t been attacked in prison yet it won’t be long ….
Ps : I would also add, that had that arrogant tw*t of a CEO/ senior management team actually listened to the Paediatrician consultants and f**king acted instead of playing God like they always do, she’d have been caught several YEARS earlier and so many babies would still be alive and others not maimed for life.
I REALLY hope and pray the families go after these arrogant tossas and serve them with individual manslaughter and corporate charges. Us clinicians are battered to within an inch of our lives with clinical governance, and mandatory training throughout our careers and these wannabe ridiculously overpaid gods have got ZERO accountability. In my years as a clinician I’ve seen tine and again these tossas f*ck up in nhs trust hospitals (getting paid an absolute fortune), and they literally have walked away from their f*ck up and gif another job at another hospital. This sector of the NHS truly makes my bloody boil and I hate them! Most of them are failed businessmen and they control £m’s in the nhs and couldn’t make a right decision to save their life , and they certainly cost patients theirs.
Rant over: sorry x

Re: Mason Greenwood ….
There's a big difference between having an opinion on somebody (which we all do) to judging them as people (ie saying we dont want him here cos he's an unsavoury character and if we don't get our way we'll take action - the latter is definitely what some of these Man Utd bigots are doing).
And Marko - God moves in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform. Just because we mere mortals cannot understand certain events and how they are allowed to occur, doesn't mean that there is not a very good reason for it all.

And what a blockbuster movie that'll be for all the ones who aren't burning their arses off in the lake of sulphur. Hopefully Christopher Nolan survives. Best director at the moment and he'd make it memorable for the righteous ones.
