I’ve chosen to watch Kings Lynn v Stevenage and Forest Green Rovers v Alvechurch in the FA Cup rather than more World Cup boredom. I’ll go back to that when there’s nothing else.
👍👌 Good move.

I’ll give Messi & Co v Mexico a go tonight and if its a bore-fest , then thats it……… no more World Cup.
To be honest, Fifa labelling Ronnie a genius when its a clear dive ….. everyone should be switching off really. Still quite shocked at that report.

As I said in my bedtime rant last night Marko, FIFA needs to be overthrown from power and replaced by a new International Football governing body with strict controls and accountabilities. How it’s achieved I don’t know, but I’m sure if enough individual Football Associations around the world got together and threatened to breakaway it could be achieved.

Problem is that most of the associations aren't a great deal better than FIFA so i would be 100% sure they could drive any positive change

Decent game......, couple cracking goals......, Messi still lifts the World Cup. 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷 I'll lift another one of these beers.

I stopped believing in England a long time ago. But when we made it to the the Euros final, I jumped back on the bandwagon. Once again though we choked, after scoring a super early goal against the lackluster Italians. I’ve never been impressed with Southgate. He has no balls and can’t motivate the players.

An opinion as everyone is entitled to, but personally I feel Gareth gets a poor press. I know any England manager is there to be "shot at", but if you look at his record overall he's done pretty well since he took temporary charge of the Three Lions in 2016. He has taken us to a World Cup semi-final in 2018, the final of the Euro 2020 tournament. His wins ratio (64%) is second only to Fabio Capello, in fact our beloved Bobby Robson only managed 49.5%.

Yes, he was certainly an inexperienced manager at the outset, I can see why their is a perceived opinion that he lacks charisma and a bit of drive, but when it has mattered, in the tournaments which matter, he has a fairly impressive CV. OK the Nation's League has been embarrassing, but I personally think that tournament is about as welcome as the Papa John trophy.

Sure he's done quite well - but look at the players he's had to work with.

I think he'd have done even better had he not been so negative in his approach and did not have his favourites.

Maybe that win ratio is down to the number of poor team's we play. There's a lot more minnow nations than there used to be and more meaningless easy games that only help his win ratio. Can't help feel when he's in a situation when he needs to show tactical prowess he's left wanting. He's inherited some genuinely good attacking talent in the England team, but too often it seems to go to waste and we look boring and toothless. I He's a politically savvy manager in a time where you have to say the right things in the media and I guess that's another reason why he has survived.

so happy argentina got their stuff together a bit. still think romero and tagliafico are the other 2 that should be playing. montiel is better than he showed yesterday and de paul needs to get in proper form/shape. Prefer Parades in general but guido was decent. happy messi finally got a decent look. should beat poland glik is a weak link at the back, 34yo benevento CB? eesh

Wow what a game that was, maybe the best I’ve seen do far, Belgium 0 - 2 Morocco with two very good goals.
This was only the 2nd time in 52 games that Belgium have failed to score and Morocco’s 6th consecutive clean sheet.
Well done Morocco 👏👏👏

At last the World Cup has woken up and shown that anyone here can beat anyone here. Maybe the Round of 16 is less predictable than it first appeared.

Even better Shed, it looks like your daughter will get a good run for her money.

Just read your post as Newport County gone one up agsinst Derby 3 mins before HT. Well deserved too, so much more desire than The Rams which I hope we have plenty of too this afternoon cos I’m sure Buxton will have. Enjoy the game and hopefully it will be entertaining with lots of goals.

Not for long Mike, they’ve totally collapsed and trail 2-1 at HT and lucky it’s not more.

That was one of most cracking shots without scoring from Olmo for Spain, and a good save from Neuer.

Just saw the highlights...that was a fantastic shot! Good save, but Neuer was lucky!

Germany did so well to get back into that game last night which looked lost until some inspired substitutions from Hansi Flick the German Manager. Nicolas Fullkrug looked the real deal striker when he came on after 70 mins replacing Muller who did less in 70 than Fullkrug did in his 20 mins and could easily have won it for them so much was his contribution that made him Germany’s MOTM and surely a guaranteed starter for their final game.

Hansi Flick's World Cup wildcard Niclas Fullkrug was a shrewd late addition to the squad and at 29, was the oldest outfield player to make his Germany debut for 20 years when he scored as they beat Oman in their only warm-up game before the start of their World Cup campaign.

It was certainly a match dominated by clever managerial substitutions as Alvaro Morata also came off the bench to give Spain the lead in the 62nd minute after just 8 mins on the pitch.

The World Cup has definitely warmed up.

Yep - 2 very entertaining games so far today - Serbia drawing 3-3 with Cameroon, and now South Korea level at 2-2 with Ghana as we speak. Maybe not the best games in terms of football purety, but both full of attacking intent - much better than watching England

Amid the debacle of the whole thing before any ball was kicked, got to admit there's been a plentiful supply of drama and surprises.

The damn thing's going ahead better than planned. Lots of goal action and incident even if one or two elements have soured things to an extent. Can't believe Belgium saw defeat to Morocco, that kind of thing shouldn't really occur, but given the direction of how some other fixtures have gone, maybe it's not as surprising as one should imagine. Some obscure nations really making a name for themselves out there.

Fifteen minutes before Flick introduced Fullkrug, Luis Enrique had made his own game changing decision substituting Torres to bring on Alvaro Morata who took only 8 mins to score the games opening goal.

For me an enjoyable game to watch and a good lesson on the importance of having a managers able to identify opponents weaknesses and even more important know how and who on the bench can exploit it. Both Spains Enrique and Germany’s Flick gave us a masterclass of this on Sunday.
