We are pleased to announce the signing of experienced goalkeeper Václav Hladký on a two-year deal 📝

The 33-year-old joins the Clarets on a free transfer, after the Czech’s contract with newly promoted Ipswich Town expired this summer.

They paid a lot of money for Trafford I wonder if Hladky will be first choice.
I’m pleased for him but can’t help thinking he’ll be second in the pecking order unless James Trafford moves on. At least it’s better than moving back to the Cezch Republic which would have been a big drop in the standard of football.

Maybe with us his Agent was being too greedy.

Surely this means they will sell Trafford?

Why would you go to Burnley on a 2 year deal to be number 2 when you could do that at premier league Ipswich and save yourself having to uproot and move again?

Makes sense, if you can sell 30m worth of keepers and get in a decent one for free - it’s good business at that level - especially when finances will be tight after relegation

Lesley Ugochukwu from Chelsea 20:25 - Jul 19 with 1012 views le2blue

Reckon we’ve got to be favourites for him, given Omari’s loan and their courting of McKenna. Would be an excellent loan signing

He’s just been pulled out of the French Olympic team to make an immediate loan move.

“Chelsea are understood to be assessing a number of loan options for the youngster, and hope to send him to a Premier League club”.

At least we qualify as being one of the potential options 👍

Not been linked but saying we could be favourites because of Omari.

Premier league and Bundesliga clubs
showing concrete interest, that's from Fabrizio Romano.

If we take him on loan I hope we include a buy option at a fixed price based on his current value and not on an inflated price after a year of McKenna’s coaching. Omari was valued at £4m at the beginning of last season and I’m sure Chelsea would have snapped our hand off at £8m.

That’s not really how Chelsea work and if they do they want top money. I believe they paid over 20m for him so probably any fee would be 40m plus if they were to sell.

I’d no idea they’d paid that much for him. I thought he was a product of their youth system. I see he’s already made 12 first team appearances so it’s unlikely they’ll want him to drop to the Championship for a season so we must stand a decent chance if they want him to get Premier League experience

Interesting one as I believe he plays number 10, rather than CM?

We’re recruiting on multiple fronts Mike. For the here and now, this season , and getting these young talents in through the door with a view fro the next 2-3 years ahead. Ashton made reference to that a couple of season ago when we started the re building work whilst in League One.

It makes a pleasant change that we are taking players from other clubs academies, instead of us losing our better players. In many ways we are doing a similar things to the Brentford model, but our players are slightly younger, and therefore cheaper, than if you wait for them to be just a couple of years older. But every player we are bringing in this window has a huge capacity to increase in value as an asset to the club.

I was going to post exactly the same thing but you beat me to it. We could really do with a couple of players coming in who have had some Premiership experience. For me this is where Johnson was a good signing, right sort of age but also having Premiership experience.

It is a pleasant change as long as it doesn't go too far the other way, personally I'd like a couple 28yo with prem experience to be linked.

Very tricky to get Prem experience, I looked through all the squads and there isn't much standing out - and the ones that do are already on very big contracts - more than they are probably worth, and also clubs oftenw want big fee's

Its easy to say we want experienced Prem players - but harder to find actual examples. Free agents like Kelechi Iheanacho posted above and Johnson are few and far between. Also Iheanacho was OK once but hasn't really done it lately, wasn't even effective in the championship?

Smith-rowe and Nketieh would be good examples, both good enough for the prem - so courted but a few clubs, but looking at 30m each and they are on 100k+ wages.

It's definitely not easy, that's obvious, but we are talking about a couple, not dozens, without a bit of experience we will almost certainly go down.

I'm sure we will guys, we just have to trust the process as Ashton keeps telling us, ( remind me of thud onnggd last dsy when I draft to panic lol)

Thing iscwigh loans , do t we have to wait u till literally thd last fee days, to see if clubs are full ro release ayers. To get effective ( players with experience?) In on loan, their parent clubs have to be sure they can release them eg getting their own targets in first. It's all lastmin.com isn't it.

I wad thinking about " them" up the road yesterday re their better players staying or leaving. Id be surprised if they hang on to Sargent, Sara, and Rowe. I don't think they cxn afford their wages for a start, snc I reckon they'll bd hoping to cash in. Problem is the clubs who are sniffing around, will leave any potential offers until late in the window, and
" they" will probably not get anywhere near the transfer fee a lot of their fans think they'll get, eg £20m+ quoted for Rowe, and closer to £30m for Sara.

Szmodics talks. I hope we don't pay over the top I would rather sign a CM.

He didn't play much in the Championship last season but is still only 27 years old.

Just seen this. So we ARE in talks to secure him. I think we do need a MF like him although I was very impressed with Taylor in that pre season friendly I have to say.

I think we need another striker and I know I bang in about it, but a right side CB, and a more defensive minded LB. What players do we have that can cover these two positions?

LB: Davis, Baggot ( Morsy spoke very highly of him playing there)

Lt CB: Burgess, Greaves, Edmundson

Rt CB: Woolfie, Axel, ?

RB: Johnson, Clark, Axel

MF: Morsy, Taylor, Luongo, ?

#10’s. Chaplin, Omari, Harness,

Wingers: Burns, Broadhead (inj), Omari

Strikers: Hirst, Delap, ?, ?

Likely to move on Ladapo

LB - Clarke can play there, Greaves can and so can Johnson, agree a backup LB is still a good idea though.

Edmundson is Rt CB though I believe.

It's interesting that Szmodics was left out of Blackburn's game at the weekend as a "precautionary measure"
