Re: Pre-season games Chat.
I must admit I was starting to worry given that Hoffenheim have one of the worst defences in the Bundesliga.

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
Played well that half, final 20 mins well on top.
Muric made one ridiculously good pass to set up attack
Johnson much better today and Leif involved and dangerous all half
Greaves &:Woolfy solid, Greaves looks a player, so assured, should have scored on stroke of half time.
Morsy and Taylor doing the dirty stuff, nice finish from Taylor
Chaplin, Harness & Omari causing them problems and creating a few openings.
Delap works so hard and really puts himself about, did one really good turn and shot, definitely more to come.
I've been quite pleased with that tbh, we look strong and fit too which is good, it's just the lack of numbers worrying me at present.

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
A good work out today and positive result, the second half was always gonna be less fluent but still saw good signs from the likes of Burns, who looks fine, Tuanzebe looked solid and pretty fit and young Ryan Carr really impressed me when he came on.
As much as I've liked Freddie Ladapo the Premier League is definitely gonna be a step too far, he'll be on his way to pastures new.
I think we look in far better shape than I was thinking yesterday, the work on the training pitch is definitely paying dividends with fitness. Looking forward to next week's final game against Nice now. A big week coming up as we just have to get a couple of new faces through the door.

Thought the starting 11 played well today against the Hoff, big man at the back was solid, the defence looked good, need more up front,Taylor was good, after the break we looked a bit disjointed.Burns pulled off some nice moves, enjoyable to watch.

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
I can only reiterate what others have said and overall that was a decent all round town performance. A very well taken goal scored by Jack Taylor who played a very assured game and looked every bit worthy of his place in the starting line up. My only concerns are that most Premier League defences will be harder to break down than Hoffenheims and we found that quite difficult. The other stand out concern is our lack of depth to the squad never more apparent than bringing Freddie Ladapo on late in the game that highlights our need for additional resources before the season kicks off. With all due respect to Freddie he wouldn’t make the bench at any other team in the Premier Lesgue.

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
Not one of the more recognized names of Teutonic "football" for sure but a win's a win. Not only that and reading reports seems the team were up for it, the new players did good and integrated themselves with the existing squad and we showed the game respect, not some aimless exhibition contest where another time we wouldn't try or attempt to take anything from it.
I know we played Borussia Monchengladbach some time recent (a more illustrious German club name) and lost, but that occasion featured our kids or under 21s if correct, the main (more) senior squad wasn't involved or weren't part of it. It's not always possible to catch up with each and every friendly match we play during pre-season but initial reports from those we been involved in seem encouraging. Kind of want to get stuck into real action with Liverpool on the first day and give it a real go, see where it takes us etc but these exhibition games appear somewhat crucial in order for new and existing players to find their feet, get ready for match fitness and prepare for any real contest when the actual season is once underway.

Not long to wait now AP. Next Saturday the 10th it’s Nice a week later it’s the big one v Liverpool at Portman Road, kick off 12.30 and live on Sky TV. It doesn’t get better than that.

Looking forward to the game today- anywhere good nearby for breakfast?
Usually I go to forge kitchen or Arlingtons but ideally nee somewhere close to the ground today. Is the fan zone open?

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
Was reading the EADT preview for the Nice game and it really hit home just how short of numbers we are currently! It says KM has just 17 senior outfield players he can choose from today! Without any new signings that situation is not going to be any better ((barring any good news about Hirst's injury) going into the Liverpool game.
We seem to have been pretty unlucky with injuries this pre-season, as compared to last season.

I also thought we’d see a close as possible starting XI to the Liverpool game but seems not

Was going to just post that. Donacien on the bench too, I hope he can get himself a decent new deal somewhere and it's good that we have allowed him to get his fitness levels up, which IMO is no less than he deserves.

Just a random observation, maybe I'm missing something but why are there no names on our player's shirts?

Maybe because numbers have not been declared for the players yet.

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
Decent first half, been quite impressed, a few shots and efforts blocked and charged down. I've liked the look of Delap today which is good, others to impress are Edmundson, Hutchinson and Harness. Got away with one for the penalty. I've been particularly pleased with our ball retention, passing and movement, all looking OK so far.

Re: Pre-season games Chat.
Not a bad first half against a team that finished 5th last season in Ligue 1 and qualified for the UEFA Europa Lesgue.
I didn’t realise until I noticed their shirt sponsors name that Nice are owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe part owner of Manchester United.
