Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Toney would want huge wages and would also want a bigger club, even if we had a bid accepted I doubt he’d agree to sign.
I’d love Scott McT here but again out of our range. Wages well in excess of 100k PW and would want to go to a bigger club, would even be a coupe for Fulham to get him IMO. If they get him then him and Smith-Rowe is some Transfer window for them.

Toney would be betting on us to lose every week, no thanks.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
John Eustace has suggested Blackburn Rovers could walk away from a deal to sell Sam Szmodics if Ipswich Town don't meet their valuation soon.
The two clubs have been in talks for a number of weeks about a deal for Rovers' top-scorer. Szmodics has missed the last three pre-season matches, as a result, which has been a disruption to their plans.
With the clubs still apart on their valuation for the 28-year-old, Eustace is keen for a line to be drawn. He again reiterated that he wants to retain his star player and didn't rule out him being involved against Derby County if a deal isn't sorted soon.

Walk away, they are just messing us about like they did with Gallagher. Even if we meet their asking price, which he is not worth, they no doubt will come up with something else for the transfer to be completed.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 11:24 pmJohn Eustace has suggested Blackburn Rovers could walk away from a deal to sell Sam Szmodics if Ipswich Town don't meet their valuation soon.

If Hirst is out for a long time Ivan Toney might not be so daft after all.

ZERO chance - why would he sign for us? So many clubs would take him if the price was low enough, and even if we bid a high price I can’t see him signing for Ipswich, he wants to play in Europe etc. he would also want very Chucky wages - prob 150k pw

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I don’t recall anyone suggesting Toney as a serious option. As best I recall I asked if anyone thought he might be worth a punt at £40m which seemed cheap compared with Blackburn Rovers £20m valuation of Sammie Smzodics. He certainly wouldn’t be a risk in terms of ability to score goals at Prem League level and with Hirst and Broadhead possibly both missing until November our attacking options are looking thin.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
As it stands I can see Sammie cancelling his contract with Blackburn if his Ipswich move does not materialise, going on his valuation at 28 years old he is not worth any more than £10 million tops plus add-ons, no premiership experience basic championship striker but Iwouldnt blame him if he tells the Venkys to get stuffed, also I can't see a massive queue lining up for his services and Blackburn will lose £10 million through being bloody awkward and well OTT in their valuation, there is no way they are getting £20 million from us or any other club, FACT

Has a player ever paid up their contract? Surely it would happen a lot if possible? His contract is probably 3-6m, town would gladly give him that. Surely most of the championship players would do it when moving to premier league clubs?
Even players in the final year would do it - ie Toney could settle his for say 5m and move on to a club and ask a 10m
Signing on feee?
I see west ham are signing Faulkring the German for £27m, that seems ALOT for a 31 year old?!
I think Scott McTominay is good value at 20m, his wages will be high but IMO that’s exactly the signings I’d have loved - not likely we could get him though.

They e still got a lot of expensive contracts to find out if that though…. Theyve won one pre season game and list most of the rest. I’m not sure this season will be an easy “ p*ss the league “ season some of their fans are saying it’ll be.Cabanas Blue wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 2:10 pmThem up the road are getting 20 million for Sara we never get that sort of money, lucky Bar stewards.

That’s exactly what Jordan Henderson did in Saudi to free himself for the move to Ajax. As best I recall it cost him £12m.
West Ham also appear to be close to signing Summerville from Leeds United for a fee rumoured to be £25m. If true that looks to be an excellent signing at that price.
As for Scott McTominay I’d love to have him in the squad as a utility player which is how United use him, but given our current squad / shortfalls, where would we play him and which gap would he fill ? You may conclude the same as me and not be sure where he fits.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Hmm I’m dubious about that in the UK - as I say surely any good championship player could do it and move for 1-5m? Why pay £20m for someone if you could get them out for less?
Re McTominay - he’d be perfect to play alongside Morsy in my opinion. As a big upgrade on Masimo.
I badly feel we need someone to help Morsy. Ideally someone strong, mobile, athletic etc - I know McTominay isn’t overly athletic but he is still a very good player.
Not sure who is available though.

If the Szmodics deal doesn’t happen and we fail to secure another striker, there’s a very good chance Ladapo will be on the bench. Not sure about Al Hamadi’s fitness but I’d rather have him.
Personally I think our priority aside from a striker is getting Morsy help in the midfield. Currently, Top six teams will cut through our midfield like a hot knife on butter.
As it stands, I’m not looking forward to Liverpool. Trust me I know we’re doing everything we can to strengthen the squad but it’s just not happening. Next week should be a good indicator of where we stand.

It could only happen if the club agreed to it and why would they if they desperately want to keep the player. In Henderson’s case the arrangement also had to be agreed by the Saudi Pro League. I can’t imagine the EPL agreeing such an arrangement although would it really affect them, maybe not.
I like McTominay too but just don’t see where he fits to get the most out of his talent.
Today I thought Jack Taylor slotted in perfectly, whether or not he’s good enough to be a regular starter in the Premier League is another matter.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I think we’re still at least 3 players short of being a complete squad, but of course we owe it to some of the guys who got us promoted to have a chance of showing they can step up to the mark. I think we’ll definitely take a couple of loans onboard and these will probably come from the likes of Chelsea and Man City with possible buy options at the end of the season. This just seems to be the way the very big boys operate and they’ll be much happier loaning out to the newly promoted clubs rather than direct competitors chasing the European places.

He may well do and I hope you’re right Mike, but I don’t think we should be relying on that happening or even worse find out that he can’t after the transfer window has closed.

Just about all our negotiations seem to take weeks. I think we will get Szmodics,( somplg becausehe wants to.come here), but like any player we sign between now and the start of the season, they'll have had zero time to integrate into the club or the team. This is going to be one helluva tough start for us.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I wonder how much it would take to get Liverpool to part with Fabio Carvalho. He spent the first half of last season out on loan at RB Leipzig and the second half at Hull City where he scored 5 goals in his final 7 appearances. I see Southampton have had a £15m offer turned down over the weekend which suggests they’re prepared to listen to offers which isn’t surprise given their over supply of attacking options and the limited opportunities he’s likely to have getting game time.
I’m pretty certain he’s an almost perfect fit for McKenna and ITFC and would be a low risk acquisition if we could stretch to match their fee. Liverpool paid Fulham £5m for him in 2022.

I thought Hull mad to get rid of Rosenior, and I still do, but lord look at the firepower they had at their disposal last season!
