We have no route to goal whatsoever

The number of times Burns has attempted to cross but just kick it straight into the defender!

I'll put this defeat down to McKenna....his team selection was completely wrong. J Clarke and Burns should be nowhere near a first selection in my view. And biy are we missing Hirsts hold up play and guile.

Smodics must be carrying a knock? But then why would he be on the bench?

Not to be overly dramatic because I am leaving before BlueMike goes off his trolley........, but don't make this your Lambert moment, Kieron. You DO NOT put Ali on before Smods

Time to try 5 at the back, it's the only way we've picked up 3pts this season. This current setup ain't working.

Hutchinson central, how many times have I banged on about it, Kieran clearing isn't listening to me, that's a sackable offence in itself.

It is a poor selection, it's hindsight sure, but it's feeling a bit like doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Well........, the starting line up wasn't great , the 66th minute subs weren't great......, and the Al Hamadi sub was a calamitous decision.

I suppose things are learnt through all this but THE HEAT will be on you, Kieron McKenna. Got to be better than this at PR.

I'm off to hide under the bed before a few of you log on.

DO BETTER with your decisions, KIERON

I was home tonight just in time to watch the game from the start but omg what a disappointment. Against a mediocre Palace side with no away wins so far this season we were second best in every area. I’ve no idea why Sammie Szmodics wasn’t used Zi can only assume he was one of the injured players McKenna referred to on his pre match interview but if this was the case why was he on the bench.
I don’t imagine I’ll be on my own when I say for the first time I’m concerned about our chances of avoiding relegation. Where on earth is the spirit we showed away at Spurs and at home against Man Utd ? as it certainly wasn’t evident tonight.

That was very poor. We got what we deserved. No energy no urgency no ideas. Wrong team selection started. Broadhead and Al hamadi did well when they came on. Do not want to see Jack Clarke start another game he is absolutely crap. 😡

Even worse Leicester lead 2-0 at home after West Ham were denied a perfectly good goal by VAR that would have put them level just minutes before Leicester scored to double their first half lead.

I'd agree with all of that. Clarke though does good stuff then spoils it all by not releasing early enough or finding his man, tends to overplay IMO.
Burns, Clarke very poor. Hutchison, 20 million oh dear !
No width, full backs hardly got forward all night and no invention. Morsy very one paced. Looked a very very poor side.
Palace well setup all night and just squeezed the space for Ipswich to play in and Town didn't have the quality to solve it.
Brilliant goal, did Greaves superbly with stepover and quality finish.

Watching Leicester match also and they look everything that Town aren't !

Absolutely f**king dross and that includes McKenna, inept. What the hell does Jack Clarke offer ? He's dire, Burns too, his first touch is embarrassing, no Szmodics? Wtf is McKenna keeping a goalscorer on the bench for ? For me O'Shea was head and tail above anyone else, and for those moaning about Al-Hamadi please watch the f**king game cus he did more in the 10 minutes he was on than any of the other useless, disinterested tossers, he actually caused them problems and at least tried.

We are without question going down, that team as it stands isn't good enough and the depth is poor, we aren't beating anyone apart from a freak win at Spurs. McKenna is also looking lost with team selections, substitutions, tactics and plan B's. I put a lot of tonight down to our imperious leader.

Unless there is a magical Jan recruitment then we will be competing in the Championship again. After tonight would be hard pushed to suggest which players should not be benched.

Cajuste the only Town player that looked a premier league class tonight, very disappointed and completely fed up with the premier league.

Yes agree Mike O'Shea was very good also.

To narrow the angle, i'm struggling to see where Muric gets blame for the goal. Superb finish and quality goal. Ipswich problems tonight are elsewhere and they are big !

Maybe Szmodics isn't 100%. Ali was decent when he came. Shows a lot of raw talent for me

This. Plus we looked half a yard short on every challenge. For the first time in years, we looked bereft of ideas and frankly, a tired outfit. Lets be honest here... Harry Clarke is NOT prem class. He is so afraid of mistakes now that he sent it back or sideways all night. It was like watching us under mccarthy for long periods! I half expected cole skuse to appear in midfield!

Burns cannot beat his man - ever, Omari tried but looked on his own, Delap looked shot to bits from the start and Jack Clark...? He is NOT good enough for this league. Palace were nothing much but in a game where we HAD to win, we didn't turn up! That is as much a managerial issue as anything else. Palace out muscled us and bullied us off the ball or just fell over and conned the ref. Either way, we fell for it and they outsmarted us. We got what we deserved - nothing.

It is bournemouth and wolves away next. Failure to beat either and we are then looking at newcastle, arsenal and chelsea followed by fulham away.... anyone still gonna tell me to 'trust the process'?!!

Same old subs, same old muric errors but we seem to recently have added an even slower build up to our play followed by lack of end product! This was NOT what we have been used to in terms of attacking intent. McKenna needs to change something and earn his money cos right now, we are looking down the barrel of relegation before the end of January!

We need 30pts from 24 games to stay in this league? For first time, after tonight I just cant see where will get them from. Where has that enthusiasm and energy that we had against Liverpool (1st half) Aston Villa and Man Utd? If we had any of those performances against Palace tonight we would of won easily 😳🤬🙅‍♂️🙏

We’re clearly promoted a season ( or two), too soon. Plus all these ridiculous hamstring injuries. Just what the hell are we doing in our trying snd strengthening regimes at this club now??

Spot on with Cajuste he stood out by a mile he's class, O'Shea's work rate was excellent, and Greaves was a little rusty but ok, why did he pick Burns he was absolute rubbish and useless at crossing the ball, Bournemouth will go through us like a knife through butter, if we don't bring in some top class players in the January window we are down for sure

Yes, spot on, Lucy, was just the fact he was chosen over Sam Smods…… nothing against Ali Alamadi himself. Never seen the guy, cant comment, but it reads from various online places that he did very well indeed. But he shouldn’t have been chosen over a proven goalscorer at 1-0 down with only minutes remaining. Would like someone to ask KMcK why that was.

Regarding the process? Well, 🤷‍♂️, hopefully it doesn’t become a stuck record process of
Triple subs on 65/66. Because that is so mindnumbingly obvious now. Other teams will also be holding off until they see what ipswich do…….. cant have that. Change that approach. And hopefully the process doesn’t morph into the Paul Lambert era of being “found out” that no one has a fkn clue. 🙏 Don’t let that happen.

As of right this minute, anyone being vocal at Portman Road or even away from home about the process not working (imo) will look a tad silly. And it’ll pile on unnecessary pressure.

Masses of work to be done before Bournemouth. (Two separate boiler installs) ….. and masses of work for KMcK & Co. Got to believe that’ll be a more difficult game. Give Smods a start , boss.

Hate to say it, but I’m not surprised. The squad is not strong enough at the moment (with injuries especially) to stay up, and January is too far away for reinforcements we need now.

To be honest I thought we’d finish 18th at the end of the season, and I still believe it. As someone else said, we were promoted too fast unfortunately. I just hope we don’t get seriously thumped for the remainder of the season because that will really be disheartening and embarrassing to say the least. McKenna was obviously attempting to rotate a few players, but we don’t have the depth to do that really. KM’s hands are tied with what he has to work with, I don’t blame him.

Still a lot of games to play, so who knows. For me I’m currently expecting relegation, that may change. It’s not the end of the world if it does happen. We’ll get parachute money and should be competitive in the Championship. If KM departs so be it. As long as the owners stick around we’ll get better.

Marko, Szmodics should have started, that was p*ss poor management and if he has a knock he shouldn't be on the bench, at the moment the process looks bollocks if I'm honest.
