Re: January transfers
Apparently the Spurs link won't go away re Delsp. Figure of £50m upwards being touted.
Even if it did happen Man City won't allow Spurs to buy Delap, so I do t think he'll go there. He's said he doesn't fancy Spurs anyway ....

Re: January transfers
With Edmondson being recalled and Middlesbrough wanting him, I would try for a deal with their striker Latte Lath coming here on a special deal, he would be an ideal partner with Delap but the formation would have to change to 4-4-2 to accommodate the double strikers.
I can't understand why the loan deal for Al Mahdi to WBA broke down because they want him on a permanent deal, we paid £1 million for him so if we say to Mogga you can have him for £2 million we've still made a profit, he's never going to make it in the Premiership so let him go.
The new loan signing Julio Enciso number 10 midfielder at 20 is an ideal age we need him to apply his skills to search for openings in the opposition defence this is where we have been weakest so welcome Julio Set them Alight, if we can get Phillogene and Hutchinson operating the left and right flanks as they should then we should start to get better results, I've never liked Delap operating as a lone striker and coming back into defence to collect the ball and hopefully go on searching runs but it rarely happens he gets 2 or 3 defenders blocking him out hence he needs help with say, Broadhead, Encio, and Cajuste pushing from midfield,

Re: January transfers
Manchester United reportedly made a last-minute effort to hijack Ipswich Town’s loan deal for Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Julio Enciso.
Enciso is set to join Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich for the remainder of the season. The Athletic reports that the transfer does not include an option to buy and Ipswich will over his wages in full.
The player decided to join the Tractor Boys in search of playing time, which he found had to come by at the Amex Stadium.
Enciso came off the bench in stoppage time during Brighton’s 3-1 victory over United last Sunday.

"Welcome to the Monumental U Marathon Stadium in Peru for Inter Miami's friendly against Universitario with Lionel Messi making his 26th start for the club, scoring 21 goals in the process. Luke Woolfenden makes his debut in defence."
But......, masses of luck to the lad wherever he goes.

I don't know? I have not read or heard Delap say anything about not wanting to join any specific club? Why would he say such a thing? It just does not make any sense at all.

Re: January transfers
From what I've been reading, many Brighton fans rate Enciso highly. It's looking like MA is once again pulling a few rabbits out of his hat. I'm sure he's working diligently on getting a #9, but those are hard to come by especially in January.
I'm even more anxious to see which of our players depart.

Reading between the lines though, he's a fiery character, who will potentially need to be managed. I hope he integrates into the squad coz he's a helluva a player...

Re: January transfers
Is it just me or do we seem to be acquiring on overload of players for the three places behind Delap. We now have Hutchinson, Philogene, Jack Clarke, Szmodics and Enciso with Chaplin Broadhead and Burns all from the old school all competing for the three places.
I’m sure half the reason we’ve not seen anything good from Jack Clarke is simply down to lack of game time which is what players need to get the best out of them, and we still don’t have cover for Liam Delap but we’ve got five of these guys sitting on the bench earning circa £25k pw each. For me we only need a maximum of six of these 8 players, surely a couple need to be shipped out.
I’m assuming McKenna’s first choice will be Hutchinson, Enciso and Philogene playing behind Delap, if this were the case who would be the three back ups assuming he wants two players for each position. If we’re not careful we’re going to have a pissed off dressing room as decent players are going to get less and less minutes on the pitch and their individual games will go off.

Edmundson Fee and Personal Terms Agreed
Thursday, 23rd Jan 2025 23:41
Town and Middlesbrough have agreed a fee for the permanent transfer of central defender George Edmundson, who is set to join the Championship side on a two-and-a-half-year deal, TWTD understands.
As previously reported, the 27-year-old was the subject of two failed bids from Boro, where he has been on loan since August with the Blues activating a recall clause earlier in the week.
The two parties continued discussions, however, and a deal has been agreed with the Blues set to receive an initial fee of around £500,000 plus top-ups, some shorter term, some based on Boro being promoted.

Probably in the summer when know which division we’re in. Currently, some of these forwards are out injured, and McKenna clearly wants to be able to have a choice of forwards to mix n match in games. But of a luxury for these days isn’t it. But that’s where we are these days, it’s different times at ITFC now.

Re: January transfers
I agree Andy, a real plethora of options in that position, the squad is in danger of becoming a bit unbalanced, as Hallam says you would expect a couple to depart, but who ? Hopefully Jack Clarke of anyone but his options are limited. Chaplin injured but I don't see him going, Szmodics can potentially be 3rd striker, Burns seems to have a part to play, maybe we arrive back at Broadhead who has looked very lively lately, but again options limited.Charnwood wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 11:38 pmIs it just me or do we seem to be acquiring on overload of players for the three places behind Delap. Re: January transfers
I actually feel the issue they are trying to address here is the lack of quality coming off the bench. So many opponents are bringing on 50m+ of talent and we are often bringing on players who were recently in league 1.
I think some will drop out entirely, Burns etc. Yes not all the star players will start now but at least the bench options will be very strong.
Otherwise it seems we are having done to us what we were doing to teams in L1/Champ, i.e bringing on real quality on 70mins against tired legs and scoring late goals as a result. I recall especially in League 1 it felt like a cheat code what with the quality we had off the bench.

Yes, totally agree. He was always the fall guy so others could be accommodated.
Anyway, looks like another possible target ( but one for development?)
