It was comfortable without being spectacular, you could see it took a while to get used to each other but we improved as the game went on.

Very pleased with Palmer, that's a good signing, Jack Clarke looked very good but we need it in the Premier League, Hirst too worked very hard and pleased Philogene scored as he looked a bit average to me.

A negative for me was Phillips again, if you can't shine and impose yourself in these games then what's the point.

All in all no complaints and here's hoping for a favourable home draw for the 5th round on 1st March.
Mike I can't see us holding onto Phillips he's carrying far too much weight and is very slow not the same player he was at Leeds he feels it's more comfortable to just swan around collecting a big wage for doing very little, you are the weakest link back to City end of the season.

Thought Phillips was dreadful again today. The number of times he gave the ball away. Imo a total waste of a loan.
Pleased for Clarke and hopefully it will give him some confidence. Not a classic performance by any means but we got the job done. Was glad to get back to the car and get warm and even though we got wet at least we saw a win.

I didn't get to see any of the game, heard some good and encouraging comments on Palmer our new keeper.

How good was Palmer and do anybody think he'll be Ipswich's number 1 for the coming years?

I suppose we did improve as game went on, but to win 1-4 and I'm underwhelmed by us says how far we've come i guess lol.

Where's the draw for the next round?

That result just shows the gulf between the Championship and the Premier League. We basically played our 2nd team and looked reasonably comfortable. Phillips, was poor again.
Palmer looks very solid. We still play far to slowly for my liking. On to the 5th round 👍
This!

The speed of the game was so different, passing slower and time on the ball seemed an age compared to the PL. plus you don’t get punished for every mistake. It felt like a flashback to last season - speaking of which there is a lovely short video the club put up on social media about that.

The defence was walking ball out from the back today..... wonder why that was?!

Really nice away win today. Scoring 4 on the road is always good.

Home or away tie in the 5th rd, don’t think it matters with the “some fans & the Messiah” situation. Might be less stressful away from home.
And vs a lower team would be decent.

Then a bumper Quarter Final …….. probably away from home as well. 🤔

Tried reading some response from their Sky Blue Fans Forum but the place is a mess. From whatever you could gather some didn't care much for defeat i.e. it's a Cup game and non-essential (strange viewpoint after last seasons endeavors) while others accepted they were never really given much of a chance such was the poor team their manager selected.

Simple math here we have 15 other club names remaining - fifteen - standing between ourselves and a return to any euphoria from '78. It's only two rounds won but we're getting into territory now where you can see the opportunity so why not go for it.

Why the f*ck Coventry had to play out in all black attire rather than traditional Sky Blue is a mystery. What with our pink salmon design it made for a bizarre clash, all colors involved were simply questionable but what the hell we won, took a decisive victory from it and move on to a round in competition we don't feature at all too often.

There were a full capacity crowd there today if correct. Some players or manager there didn't seem to want it much but the people of the City obviously thought it was worth attending or (believed they) could take something from it.

KO delayed ten mins.

Maybe they are seeing if anyone will turn up, looks half empty
30,055 believe it or not
Probably count all season ticket holders as being present even if they’re not in the stadium.

To be fair it did look a good crowd, was a silly comment by me earlier as obviously they delayed the game due to people not being able to get there on time.

I watched MOTD this morning and when they had saints vs Burnley it looked fairly full but then it panned to the other side of the Starium and that side was empty!

Must admit there were more there than I expected. I believe for the their 3rd round tie at home to Sheffield Wednesday the gate was just over 20,000 and like us Wednesday had sold out their allocation of just under 5,000.
What with the delayed kickoff I was dreading extra-time and penalties and was grateful it didn’t come to that.

They don't actually count season tkt holders for cup games as they aren't included in season ticket purchases, their capacity is over 32,000 so a couple of thousand empty seats makes sense.

5th round draw then . Who do we want?

Millwall at home so that the redevelopment of the Cobbold Stand can start earlier than expected.

Well it was nice while it lasted. Certainly won’t be going back to Forest after the experience my wife and daughter had there earlier this season. Come on Exeter.

Won and witnessed at Plymouth exactly 20 years back at same stage of competition. That 'other team' loss brought back some memories. Devon team done great, that's a monumental result and then some, you can't offer enough plaudits. Just a shame reward they get is a tougher task than the one they just had to undertake.

Our draw is kind of sh*t, you would have hoped for something better to provide greater chance of getting through but there's worse teams to lose to. First Round Five appearance since 2007 although may be incorrect. In the grand scheme of things that's not acceptable, it's to a certain extent embarrassing but what the hell we've made it back. Could just have well been eliminated (by now) once again.
