Re: Is passing out from the back doomed?
Good article, I like J Wilson - good journalist.
Suspect it’ll change at some point, very difficult as just whacking it up the field is tricky as you often give away possession, what I have noticed this season is some of the top teams have defenders who can hit a 70 yard pass, Virgil VD did it against us etc. that’ll probably become more sought after, if you’ve got defensive players who can play a killer pass to beat a press it’ll be highly advantageous
PS -DB - can you recommend a company for a Desert safari over there?

Agree with the above, can already see some changes and ironically it was the Man City goalkeeper who this week set a new Prem record for the most number of assists on a season.
Loads of companies doing Desert Safari over here and all pretty much the same in every respect except that you really get what you pay for with the camp where you end up having dinner and entertainment before heading back into Dubai.
Probably the no.1 company is Arabian Adventures and with them you are always guaranteed quality, even if it costs a little more. You may even have a possibility to get a beer at the camp if this is important for you. Something else fun in the desert is the dawn air ballon ride. There are loads of companies doing this and they are all pretty much the same. You have to get up early though as the aim is to get to the site in time to inflate the balloon and lift off just before dawn to get the best views. You'll have to get to a meeting point to catch the minibus from there into the desert and if you are late they won't wait. Remember also it's a bit nippy at the moment before dawn so bring a warm hoodie. In the desert it will be around 12-16 degrees but will soon warm up to around 24 once the sun is up.

Re: Is passing out from the back doomed?
Football tends be cyclical doesn't it, ans it may be the possession, playing out from the back is already starting to change, as teams hit on the counter break,at brake neck pace, charging down the field, from deep.
My overriding vision of Man City at PR this season was a wall of light Blue shirts across the pitch ( it seemed) converging on our penalty area after we'd finally got the ball into their final third only to lose possession. Tbh it was almost a terrifying sight seeing the likes of Harland etc al steaming into our box like a runaway train. You could have forgiven our defence if they'd chosen to run for the hills.
But you get so many PL teams now doing this now, ( Forest, Spurs,Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool etc etc ). It seems to have come down to who can sprint the whole length of pitch, the fastest, as one player boots the ball forwards for virtually half the rest of the team to chase.
Where's the " football" in all this?
Edit: I meant to add, I actually find some games I watch ( not necessarily Town(, quite boring with this possession style, with aimless passing it back and forth around your own 18yard area. Get it up to the half way line only to pass it all the way vavk to the keeper again- WHY??
