Do you mean those around him at Ipswich, Mike?
If so this was the issue I had with McKenna because when they were fit he eouldnt play the more senior players. Our frint line were a bunch of kids tbh average age 21/22, no experience. I honestly don't know why the lies of Broadhead, Szmodics, Hirst, Chaplin didn't get more gane time. They had a lot to offer. Now well probably lose a lot of them ..... just my view of course ...

Re: Other matches.
Delap's first appearance at new team saw a quarter full stadium in Georgia. There were like 40, 50,000 vacated seats. Guess the event just didn't provide enough pull or teams involved failed to inspire. Got to imagine the eventual 30 million we'll receive for the player is adequate business, years back we'd never be involved in such prices or transfer deals and while disappointed to see the player move on he did good for us and after a relegation his departure was always likely.
More relevant competition got to be CONCAF tournament now ongoing. Could well be over before it's really underway but don't imagine (or wish) Mexicans retaining a title this time around. Canada can't play soccer in any capacity here now or ever as join hosts but Panama could surprise some this time by going all the way. United States naturally should be there or thereabout by the end and that's where the hope lies although (and) there's not much in way of competition it's the handful of standout nations that will nearly always contest the latter stages.

Re: Other matches.
Anyone else watched any of this Club World Cup?
All I can say is, what a complete load of crap. One or two European teams playing some American teams most of whom appeared to be full of players at the end of their careers. I'm assuming that because eg Los Angeles side seemed full of 32-34 yr olds and their keeper was 39. Not wishing to appear agist here, but bloody hell, some were so out of shape i thought they would have a coronary.
My overall view of it is, its a poor "product"dedigned purely to make money. Its a ridiculous tournament.
Anyone else bothering to watch it?

Re: Other matches.
Yeah i mean we had nobody that would have made the run and got on the end of Delap's cross, that's the difference, chelsea's movement, awareness, positional nous etc are all far superior, for us to score that Delap would have had to get on the end of his own cross.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jun 17, 2025 2:47 pmDo you mean those around him at Ipswich, Mike?

I could see Fernandez and Delap developing into a real partnership. It was a great assist and finish.

Re: Other matches.
Just tuned into the last 20 mins of the England v Germany U21 fixture perfectly timed to see a great assist from Omari Hutchinson to make it England 1-2 Germany. At least the final 15 mins should be entertaining.

Re: Other matches.
Omari did well, him and Nwaneri *(arsenal lad on the other wing) did well. England will be gutted as they battered Germany in the 2nd half.
The better Omari does the more chance a club will 'take a punt' on him at 35m. He has been standing out amongest the group to some degree, which shows he has calibre. I think he could really do damage in the championship next season if we can keep him.

If we could get 35m for Omari, I'd take it in a heartbeat!shabba wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 10:12 amOmari did well, him and Nwaneri *(arsenal lad on the other wing) did well. England will be gutted as they battered Germany in the 2nd half.

I wouldn't, I think he has alot of potential, he has only had 2 seasons now in mens football.
I think he can make the grade as a decent premier league player, given time.

Re: Other matches.
Even so, I think that Mr Carsehole definitely missed a trick by playing him on the left - he's so much more dangerous when cutting in from the right to fire at the goal with his left.shabba wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 10:12 amOmari did well, him and Nwaneri *(arsenal lad on the other wing) did well. Ive watched 2 orv3 England U21 games in this Euro competition and I'm not particularly impressed with Birmingham's Stansfield. He looks a couple of levels below the rest of thst England team to me.

Omari was very good again tonight, first half he caused them so many problems. This will definitely require me to increase my chance of him leaving rating! It shows he can play at a high level alongside good prem players.
35m would be a club record transfer though for four of the six clubs he is linked to.
I think with so many being linked it really increases the chances of him going, shame as he could really boss the championship.

Re: Other matches.
I’m sorry Shabba, I don’t agree with your assessment of OH. I know you’re a fan of his, but in my opinion he’s overrated. He has physical skills, but he has limited knowledge of tactical play. He reminds me of many American players, lots of ability, but devoid of football wisdom. He’s not worth 20mil let alone 35mil. The only American player who got away with that is Clint Dempsey…probably due to his Texas fighting spirit. Yes I know Omari isn’t American, but that’s what he reminds me of.shabba wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 9:24 pmOmari was very good again tonight, first half he caused them so many problems. Any club paying £35m for a player would expect consistency and the ability to last 95 minutes. I don't think OH has enough of either.

It wasn't just me
Commentators were praising Omari yesterday. To me he was one of the players making things happen, he has laid on alot of chances for others in this Euros, most of them not taken sadly.

Re: Other matches.
I would have loved to have seen him in his more natural position on the right wing, where he often cuts in and shoots (often scoring )...

Re: Other matches.
They praised his first half performance, not so much the second. Exactly the same as they did for the previous game.
It's no accident that he was the first to be substituted in both of those games - like I said, consistency, I'd want a player to perform for 95 minutes if I was going to pay £35m for him.
