Birmingham are going for it, spending big etc.

How can they do it yet we had to be careful with the £? Ie because of the Financial rules, not because we didn’t have the money.

Inflated sponsorship deals? Just seems odd.
Probably as difficult an opening game As we could have got.

Indeed they are. Goes to show that the deals are available at the moment, but for some reason all we have brought in is a goalkeeper that we don't need. And I see that Besiktas are close to signing Cajuste on a deal that would surely have been easy for us to afford.

At the moment, I'm inclined to think that my opinion of a few weeks ago - that all the proceeds from the parachute payment etc will end up in a US pension fund - was not too far off the mark.

I don’t agree with that, they want the team in the prem long term - as the asset value of the club will be high and that’s their then chance to move it on for a profit. They don’t care about £40m when they have spent more than that already. It would make no sense from a business point of view to take a little money now which damages the long term potential large profit.

Pension fund will be tied to assets of value mostly rather than cash.

Anyway - not sure if I’d take any of the signings Birmingham made - would they make us any better? Probably not better than what we have.
Just amazes me they can do it, I suspect there is some dodgy skirting of the rules going on.

Also on Cajuste - if we cant justify the wages he would want maybe that’s the reason, make no sense bringing him here on 50k a week, way ahead of the highest earners etc and unsettled the squad and financial balance. Those Turkish teams can pay quite high wages.

I also thought today, maybe we still need to sell before we can spend big? Was Delap the sale to mostly balance the books? Maybe Omari needs to be sold before we can spend out.
I know it’s all these deals nowadays are all amortised - but we maybe need to be careful around the max loss rules in the three year cycle. We could spend this year but would be in real trouble if we don’t go up as we only get 2 years parachute payments (saints and Leicester get three as in the prem longer).

I do wonder if we're after and going to secure that Burnley midfielder who wasn't involved in their pre season training Hes their captain. ..... it's very quiet i know but i think our targets are higher quality and associated with PL clubs, eg, That Chelsea striker i think we're after but nothing will be done until the CWC ( load of cobblers that competition is), finishes at the end of next week. I think things will start to move from next week

Ps one or two clubs are signing a lot of players but not sure about the quality. Narwich have signed about 4 so far

I think you've hit the nail on the head! Also, it was stated that the players we purchased for the PL were long term...based on being relegated to the Championship.

I'm not really bothered about Cajuste. He was solid, but not worth breaking the bank. I'd really like us to pick up that Chelsea striker on loan, and of course we really need some reinforcement in midfield...but with a few players coming back from injury maybe KM will ask some to play in different positions. We also need some backup in defence, I wonder if that will come from in house.

I've said it before, but if we get offered 35-mil for Omari we should take it.

Not sure Birmingham's signings inspire me and unlike most I feel we can do better than Cajuste who just won't handle the rigours of the Championship, my concern is we need to start moving sooner rather than later.

And Hallam, Three of Norwich's signings are goalkeepers lol.

I know they had defensive problems last season but you'd think the thick arses would realise you can only play one goalkeeper in the team!

It’s really looking like Taylor and Morsy will be our MF starters. That doesn’t fill me with alot of confidence

…….it’s 7 weeks before window shuts?

We are all bored/impatien, I get that - but saying that is a bit OTT right now, would be different if we haven’t signed anyone in the next 3 weeks but even if we don’t I think we will definitely do business and those two won’t be our starters for the bulk of the season.

He's still with them ? Sargent is a useful player for both club and country that can contribute but it's useless suggesting he could join up here as they'd never sell one of their most influential players to a biggest rival. If he's so valuable to them why allow him to leave. Guess the player just asked for a move elsewhere, feels he's given as much service to them as able, wants a new challenge etc.

Borja is another they got than not only is an effective midfield unit but gets into forward positions and scores freely but one they're not looking to sell and second they wouldn't entertain idea of allowing a move to us. How many players we brought in anyhow since the season finished, activity seems quiet or maybe McKenna and the owners are just waiting for the right moment to further additions to the squad.

I think we've got yo wait another week until this CWC competition has finished b4 well be active again after this Chelsea striker. I'm not particularly hoodgully, because he wasn't interested a month ago, do I can see us once again not getting a striker in with any meaningful experience. Al Hamadi isn't good enough do that'd leave us just with Hirst, and players such as Szmodics
, Broadhead, Chaplin, Clarke, Philiogene, Ogbene,.

I'm expect Burns to be out until nearer Christmas and thrn being off the pace whe he does return from injury ( he'll not doubt get another injury as is often the case with big injuries).

Town go away on tour soon, and still no dign of incoming players to travel and bed in. Meanwhile all our rivals are busy signng players....
