Bowyer hit with three-match ban

Post by Dazza » Thu Dec 29, 2005 1:02 pm

Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer will serve a three-match ban after losing his appeal against his dismissal in the 2-0 Boxing Day defeat at Liverpool.

Referee Mark Halsey showed Bowyer a straight red card for a challenge on Xabi Alonso which sparked a brawl that saw Liverpool's Peter Crouch booked.

Bowyer's appeal was dismissed at a Football Association disciplinary commission on Thursday.

Bowyer's ban starts with Newcastle's trip to Tottenham on Saturday.

He will also miss the Tyne-Tees derby clash with Middlesbrough, and the FA Cup third round tie against Mansfield.
Bowyer is an idiot, but I really didnt think the tackle was that bad. Crouch's reaction made it look bad.
