Agree with this totally.Himple_ITFC wrote:Fantastic performance today, at least deserved a replay from that.
We were shooting on site, passing the ball around nicely (bit too much passing on some occasions

Pompey seemed to be happy to ride out the 2nd half (did they have an attempt on goal? I can't remember one.) and looked plain ordinary (if they play like that for the rest of the season they will be back at PR next year for sure

Shame we could not get at least a replay out of it, but thats football - however, take that spirit, and style of play into this months games and I am sure we can pick up more than my predicted 4 points during the month - if Colchester can beat the Blades then surely we can

yet we still lost , you cant have so much of the ball and have fook all to show for it.

Exactly. Been saying this for ages now it don't matter how much possession you have it's what you do with it when you have it.
Yes we knocked the ball round well at times yesterday but tbh I never could see us scoring. At least we kept the ball on the deck a lot yesterday and hopefully we will continue to do so even if we bring Lee in.

absolutely, we need an end product to this work. wether its Lee or any other striker.Shed On Tour wrote:G'daddy wrote:POMPEY. PREMIER LEAGUE YOUR'E 'AVIN A LARF.

Starting to see some confidence returning to the side again, We did play some sweet football, though the final ball into goals was sadly missing, I have got to repeat myself again that NAYLOR UP FRONT IS NOT AN OPTION ANYMORE!!! Send the tall boys up on free kicks,
Supple in goal enabled us to play from the back, Matt Richards in midfield is getting better and better,Scott Barron should be able to make that left back slot his own, another sound performance and again growing in stature with every game. Magilton and Currie playing together still does not work for me,Currie is all about lifting balls into dangerous areas for tall, leggy strikers to head onto!!! Danny Haynes is not that sort of player,He wants fast, pacey whipped in type of balls that he can run onto.a feat that currie has not got!!!
Though we lost,(opp's sorry!!) i meant to say ,came 2nd, I was encouraged by what i was seeing, It was nice to see BFJ up on his feet and getting involved again. Whatever striker BFJ brings in,He will have to perform,If we get another Parkin on our hands due to BFJ's say so,I can see no other option apart from letting BFJ go!!! enjoy the season!

couldnt agree with you more BB....but until the jan window opened AND Town had re-arranged their finances Joe has had little option but to pick the current players in the squad....that fact will shortly be attended too.bluebird wrote:There is no point in pretty passing across the park, and backwards if there is no end product. Goals win games not passes!I thought we passed them off the park ..but it was plain to see we lacked an experienced Striker or two!
I would also add I would rather see Town return to our normal "passing game" - gaining in confidence to actually play this way - than hoof it up the park to a non existant "target man".
It's all about round pegs in round holes...and we have had too many square pegs in round holes this season due to injuries and lack of funds to buy the appropriate type of player. Hopefully this will change a little this week !!
