Lee completes move

Post by Fully » Wed Jan 11, 2006 5:46 am

Alan Lee says he is looking forward to a new challenge after completing his £100,000 move to Ipswich from Championship rivals Cardiff.

The Republic of Ireland international has signed a two-and-a-half year contract, with an option for a further year, while the fee could rise by a further £50,000 depending on appearances.

Lee, a former Aston Villa trainee, joined Cardiff from Rotherham in an £850,000 deal in August 2003 and felt the time was right for a fresh start with Joe Royle's side.

"It is a new challenge for me and I did not need persuading," the 27-year-old said.

"Manager Joe Royle did not have to sell the club to me. It is a great stadium and I am sure playing for Ipswich Town will give my career a boost.

"This is a step up for me and I can't wait to get on the pitch and do what I can to lift Ipswich up the Championship table.

"Everything I have seen has been so very impressive, and Ipswich are a big club who look to have everything in place to move forward.

"The manager says that he still sees promotion as a possibility this season - and to get to the Premiership would be a dream come true for me

The last line is especially funny

Charles Kennedy could still be PM one day, but it doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Im sure everyone will judge him too quick, it seems such a long time since we had a striker that can actually put the ball in the back of the net, it seems a distant memory since we had Bent and Kuqi.

Lets just hope that things dont repeat, like they did with Sam Parkin.

100k is a good price, considering it was rumored to be £200K

i must admit 200k seemed excessive, esp in the light of Leon Knight and his first half hat-trick who cost Swansea 125k.

Yeah thats doesnt mean anything though. Didnt Mark Rivers score a hat-trick at Crewe on his debut?

And De Vos could score a hat trick if he was playing MK Dons. They are crap.

Leon Knight would probably be more trouble than he is worth. Sounds like a bit of a dean bowditch, critising brightons managers tactics etc.

I think we would take that view about Bowditch, if he was. Didn't he get a hatrick not so long ago too? Seems like a lifetime ago.
