Joe Royle hailed his team's performance at Southampton as magnificent and had special praise for the defence and two goal hero Alan Lee.
Speaking to the Club website after the game, the Town boss said: "Shane Supple only had one real save to make and it was a magnificent display from the team.
"The two central defenders were terrific and Alan scored two superb goals and showed everyone why we brought him to the Club.
"He's a big powerful front player with bags of pace and he caused them problems the whole game.
"He took his goals really well, he's just what we have needed and gives us a real physical presence up front.
"It was a great result for us against a team that had a number of players playing in the Premiership last season.
"I never felt we were threatened at any stage, only a few shots from distance and it shows that we are continuing to move forward, as we have done over the last four games."
Magnificent Blues says Joe
