Proudlock back for reserves

Post by jjlj_itfc4eva » Tue Jan 24, 2006 12:43 pm

Town's reserves take on West Ham at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm). Striker Adam Proudlock will play after recovering from the knee injury which has kept him on the sidelines in recent weeks. Scouts aplenty are expected in the Town directors' box with Dean Bowditch likely to go out on loan before the end of the month, Kevin Horlock and Cathal Lordan free to leave and Dean McDonald interesting a number of lower league clubs.

Norwegian midfielder Vemund Brekke Skard will play his second reserve game after recovering from groin surgery.

Squad: Price, Moore, Mitchell, Casement, Short, Ainsley, Peters, Horlock, Skard, McDonald, Bowditch, Proudlock, Knights, Trotter, Lordan, Pétursson.
Good news about Proudlock. Lets get some strength up front (him and lee). Not so good about Dean MacDonald. I think he is a good playerr although he plays better down the left than up-front

2 players strong up front? wont work pal! u need 1 strong and 1 quick so the 1 can make runs while the other flicks it on etc.

proudlock is a town bench player. i hope he gets released in the summer.

My answer is Wark, why should we not have two strong players up front, that's just what we need, I don't care where they play but we need STRONG players up front.

Lee and Forster up front IMO.

Luke

Next season is looking good!
Lets assume Proudlock gets shipped off...
We will have

Lee,
Parkin,
Forster,
Clarke,
Knights,
Haynes,

Maybe with another additon to the front line someone in the Forster mould but less of a sick note, We could be back up there! :D
Joes prioritys MUST be...
To sign a new Left back, To sign a experinced goal keeper, And to sign another Striker. Then i honestley beleive with the youth coming through etc we will have a very good squad possibly better then last seasons IMO.
Altho this is assuming nobody gets sold

I agree with most of that except the goalkeeper situation chap!!

The two lads have done exceptionally well in goal for us this season even when the defence has let them down - why bring another player in to upset this balance??? Left back is a must and another CD imo - before another striker. Then squad wise we will be strong and hopefully with the extra year the youngsters have had we will see another 10% improvement on them!

Im not saying he should start mate, Just a experinced keeper on the bench would possibly raise price or supples game even more!

Look at the squad now Luke, you telling me we need anymore midfielders? strikers? goalkeepers?

Midfield we have

Juan (maybe only until the end of the season granted & needs to be tied down before its to late)
Magilton (Leaving at end of the season)
Williams
Richards
Garvan
Skard
Currie
Westlake
Peters ( :look: )

Forwards

Forster
Parkin
Lee
Haynes
Clarke
Knights
Proudlock (possibly only until the end of the season)

Defenders is where we are short,

Barron (has come good now and should get better and better and Richards can cover in worse case scenario)
Wilnis (has another season left in him after this one)
Sito
Naylor
De Vos

So we have cover for the left back and right back position, but nothing for centre back, if Naylor got injured now god help us, I know Wilnis can play there but he is better at right back than centre back.

My opinion anyway.

I see your point. But Barron is playing as well as he is going to get. A big strong left back who can cover at centre back too would be the ticket. Someone in the Unsworth role, No more midfeilders are needed really. But a experinced winger as a luxury would be amazing. Up front we need 4 quality strikers IMO Parkin and Lee 1st choice... Then sick note forster then we have one exceptional talent Bully Clarke and then Knights and Haynes. One more striker would be brillinat it think personaly. Altho i see what you mean about the lack of defensive cover. But dont forget young Chris Casement and Gerard Nash next season. I think they will both be playing roles

Agree about casement - don't agree about Nash.

I always thought Collins was a better player than Nash and to be fair he has also played alot more football the past couple of seasons as well.

Defence is still where we are lightest and it would be nice to see a couple more players backing up the regular back line. Maybe next year will see a group of youngsters in that role - although they need to be pushing for first team places and not merely making up the numbers!
