Town boss Joe Royle has confirmed he is waiting to hear from two managers before the weekend about the prospect of bringing in a new striker on loan to partner Alan Lee.
With Danny Haynes ruled out for a month with ankle ligament damage, Nicky Foster sidelined until April and Sam Parkin only just returning to training as he recovers from a broken ankle, Blues are short of front players again.
"Such is the striker curse that we seem to be having here this year, I enquired about a loan striker on Wednesday morning and by the time the call came back, the player was injured," Joe told the Club website.
"I have made two more calls and knowing the people concerned, they will get back to me, hopefully before the weekend.
"Sam is still three weeks away from playing first-team football so we are light in numbers again but I don't just want to bring in a player for the sake of it.
"It needs to be someone who can compliment Alan Lee in style. He has been tremendous since he arrived at the Club and if we were turning the corner when he arrived, he has pushed us around it."
