Jim Magilton To Join Oxford United?

Post by Himple » Tue Mar 14, 2006 4:39 pm

JIM Magilton is poised to re-join Oxford United as player-Assistant Manager from Ipswich Town.

The Ex-Northern Ireland international midfielder is set to return to United 12 years after leaving the U's to join Southampton.

Magilton, 35, has made 299 appearances for Town scoring 20 times.

The Ipswich captain has agreed terms on an 18 month deal and will sign subject to a medical. Magilton will link up with new United manager Darren Patterson. The two are no strangers to each other as they played together for Northern Ireland.

The news is expected to be popular with Oxford fans but protests against owner Firoz Kassam are still expected at tomorrow night's match against Bristol Rovers.

...as soon as I saw that Oxford had sacked Talbot - I jsut assumed Magic would be on his way there.

Shame , cos he didnt quite make 300 games for us did he...and what a fantastic servant for the Club ..and IMO HE deserves a testamonial for his servces to Town...

maybe slightY early for this but ..."GOOD LUCK" JIM ...AND THANKS A MILLION FOR YOUR EFFORTS MATE !!

As an oxford united fan, we are all desperate for Jim to come back and join us, we have long needed a player like him.
Whats he like now?can he last a full game?and what happened on his last game?didnt he lead the players out on his own or something?
thanx for your help, good luck for the rest of the season

Yesterday could have been the last time we saw Jim in a Town shirt, I really hope he stays until the end of the season and we can give him a proper send off that he deserves 8)

He's still a great player with the abilty he's always had....he's just not as able to cope with the match pace these days, so he doesnt get many games unless there's injuries/suspensions. I think he can definately still do a good job for Oxford tho....

We all thought that it might be didn't we Gaz, but it didnt look like it....im certain if it had been his last game he would have come over to us at the end...but he didn't.....there's an awful lot of people that do want to say a proper goodbye.

The body language of a departing Magic leaving the field at Seldhurst Park was that of staying put at least until the end of the season.....Proper send off is required.
