Curbishley watched saturdays match, guess what...

Post by Himple » Mon Mar 27, 2006 10:47 am

David Sheepshanks has issued a 'hands-off' warning to Addicks manager Alan Curbishley

Charlton boss Curbishley, who already has five former Ipswich players in his squad, was a keen spectator at Saturday's Portman Road clash with Hull City.

He is believed to be interested in midfielder Owen Garvan and goalkeeper Shane Supple, both 18, and experienced centre-half Jason De Vos.

“I hope Mr Curbishley was watching Hull City players because I have no intention of entering into dialogue with him or anyone else about any of our young players," said Ipswich chairman Sheepshanks.

If Sheepshanks sells Garvan then he can stick his season ticket up his arse

Problem is can we , the fans "believe" this Board anymore when they say that will not be selling any of our stars?

I seem to recall exactly the same things being said this time last season. Even if SS and Co genuienly have no intention of selling any of these kids - the "uncertaintity" and distrust, will I think, drastically affect future sales of Season Tickets for next year !!

What do you lot feel about all this ?

Totally agree.
As you say we have heard it all before. I hope I'm wrong but I will be amazed if we get anywhere near last seasons season ticket sales. I know the club said a little while back that the early response was about the same as last year but it will be interesting to see how the figures compare on the 13th April.
If they do sell any of the youngsters (this should only be done if we get a real silly offer we cannot refuse) you just know they will try and put the blame back onto the supporters for not purchasing enough season tickets. Imo ITFC fans have been bloody fantastic over the past few years in the way they have continued to support the club despite all the mishaps made at board level.
If this time they go back on their word then I'm afraid for many supporters it will be the straw that broke the camels back.

Ive just posted an email to Sheepy via ITFC asking for assurances that he and his Board will not be selling to the likes of CharlTown (yet again).

I think if more fans were to email ITFC along simlar lines (or stronger views if they've had a few drinks on a friday night)..I would hope that the board would see sense.

They have re-structured the debts and keep assuring us fans that we now dont have to sell , but then in the next breath there is a thinly veiled "threat" that players maybe sold IF we dont but our ST's - it's just sheer bloody blackmail and the majority of ITFC fans will buy their ST's IMO.....

Yeah we'll see if this bravado talk from Mr Sheeps turns out to carry any weight!! I think I might want Curbishly to be England manager just so he'll bu*ger off and leave our players alone....(for club committments of cos, he's most welcome to talent spot for the 3 lions!!)

Dispite being a wonderful asset and a very promising one at that too,Every professional football player has a price tag on him and Garvin is no exception. With or without him next season,I will renew and support the Town for no player or manager should be bigger than the club itself.
I hope a price tag of say 5 mill is put on young Garvin's head, what i want from our chairman Mr Sheepshanks,is an assurance that should Garvin be sold for the full asking price, then the majority of the money should be available for player investment.
We are in need of centre halfs,It is well documented that BFJ would like Fuller here too (though this supporter is not to certain on Fuller being the right man).
Everton did not want to sell Rooney to Man Utd, Everton put a massive price tag on Rooney......the rest is history. Like our directors are forever now telling us."we do not need to sell our players". I believe this is now the case,However that does not stop any other club with cash to burn to put in an offer,as long as that offer is a huge one,i say why not! enjoy the season!
