naylor up front

Post by tractorboy4life » Fri Apr 07, 2006 10:35 am

royle says if lee isnt fit for stoke he will probably have to put naylor up front(and probably on his own)when earlier this week he said he will give all the youngsters a game, so with haynes and bowditch probably ending up on the bench was he talking cobblers again to try and get more fans in?

Well I won't be at the game tomorrow but if Joe does decide to go with Naylor up front on his own then I really think he has lost it.
FFS Naylor is not a forward (even Joe was saying this not so long ago) and also there is just no excuse for playing just one up front now. :?

I read that too....its so annoying...Lee has played his best football with Haynes, and the games we've played well in have been with those 2 up front. I really cant understand his reasoning for one up front....Currie is far better in midfield, and when he plays behind the striker he looks lost and ends up going into midfield anyway. Our last two home games have been played with those two up there and it HASNT worked. I wish he would give Haynes a bigger chance, he's played well, looked lively and done nothing to deserve being dropped.

ROYLE OUT!!!

Well maybe that is a bit premature LOL!!!!

So realistically speaking - we have nothing left to play for this season, this is now the ideal time to give the youngsters games. Anyone remember Sheff Wed at home, McDonald, Bowditch and Peters up front - we slaughtered them - it was great to see the boys play well (even tho it was only 2-1).

Give the guys a chance NOW royle, the only way they will develop is to be given a bl00dy chance man!!

Jeeze, we aren’t gonna get in the play-off. This season is over. It is the perfect time to play the likes of Bowditch, Haynes, Peters etc!!!

How are these kids gonna prove themselves if they're sitting in the bench!?

I'm not impressed Joe.

Lets wait and see what actually happens, but if it is true then maybe its time for BFJ to hang up his bench jacket

Nothing against the man, but lets show a little adventure for once - jeeze even Steve MacLaren can do it (2-4-4 for Gods sake) so surely Joe can :?

The lack of TWO experienced strikers all through this season has been the biggest frustration for me (and no doubt JR!)..but if we have the following situation....

Experinced Strikers:

Forster ...Injured / not match fit
Parkin.....Injured / not match fit
Lee ........Injured
...............................................................................................

Squad players:

Haynes...cant last 90 mins ..can you see him beating Stoke's giant defenders - and who, effectively for 90 mins, would you team up with him ??
MacDonald ...clueless / no end product / lightweight
Bowditch ....need i say anything :?:
Peters...lightweight / inexperienced/ still aclimatising to English game

With Lee out we are once again buggered, frankly speaking ! I dont want Naylor up front either. All that does is wreck the defence. BUT who else have we got ..the above "squad players" are a lot weaker than our eternally injured experienced strikers. An that has been JR's problem ALL season IMHO !!

Sorry hallam but I dont agree. If we were teetering on the dropzone maybe naylor who has always been (imho) a god awful striker a run up front and flood the midfield with players that can run and get forward to support.I cant see us going down and theres no way on gods green earth were going up this term so why not give the younger(fringe players) a run for 70mins or so then swap.I would much rather see some passion, speed, and real desire than some players going through the final motions of a season petering out.
We strated to do well a few monthes back when we were forced to use the kids.
Im not comparing our kids to arsenals but look what a young unteried inexperienced team can do when motivated!

Hallam? It is better not to conceed a goal.....If Naylor wants to score a goal then invite him forward when we are in a position to do so from a set piece no doubt won from tricky lightweight player such as mini-mac,peters and co.....They may not score us goals but they will win us free kicks for Juan,Currie and Richards to have a pop at!! enjoy your season!
