For the benifit of those that couldnt make Town v Stoke...

Post by loudnproud » Sun Apr 09, 2006 2:49 am

Good call!!! In the many, many years i have been watching the Town play, all over europe too,I have never witnessed such a lacking, inovative performance as i witnessed yesterday!!! Stunned is an underestimation of how i felt. You could hear the players conversing from row z in any stand!!It truely was an atmosphere equal to that of a reserve fixture.

The game itself looked positive with BFJ electing to play 2 up front (Hor ray!!) Lee and Bowditch attacking the Green King end. Lee looked ragged and the ref was offering very little protection to his apparent ease of going down under a challenge which resulted in very few chances comming his way. Bowditch on the other hand was again getting himself into good positions and looked lively. He still looks light-weight up front which appears to make him look useless his main contribution being the running off the ball creating space that no one could take advantage of.

The mid-field were....well they simply were not there!!! Richards,Garvin,Juan and the Currie, between them they couldn't pass around a bag of crisps without miss placing some!! All four of them were shocking. The half time swap for Garvin for Magic bought this supporter some hope that at least magic would pass the ball to feet and get the passing game going.....errors on magics part with a loose pass aimed at Juan bought the 4th goal for Stoke.

The defence of Fabian,Devos,Naylor and Casement at left back, looked full of promise,Casement was under siege from the off and looked frail, held his own well, but this game could of distroyed his young confidence.Pleased that BFJ replaced him just after the half for the versitile Sito.

Stoke's 1st goal came out of nothing. In fact all their goals were hard fought for.Our defence resembled something like a pub team. Our goal by Haynes who came on for Bowditch to stir the front play up a bit, was scrambled in and at 1-1 we never looked like wanting to score another one.
On reflection, our best performing players out their were in fact the two subs....Sito and Haynes. Even the highly rated Supple's clearence kicks were to no one!! If i have to pin point one player who was exceeding his station it has to be Naylor.....Instead of playing the simple pass to a creative mid-field player who can play the long pass.Naylor on too many occasions believed he could do it from a defensive position and couldn't clear the first line of Stoke's defence,He may well of just played it back to them.
It was a performance of players wanting to go on their summer vacations cos they have nothing to play for. Those that needed a contract have got one,Those that havent got one wer'nt playing. If the Monoco scouts were at this game putting a valuation on Juan,Then we should steal him for £250k. If these players realy do believe that we have nothing to play for. I hope that some one reminds them that East Anglian PRIDE is at stake for we can still finnish above the Noj.....

May i take this oppertunity to remind you all that our reserves are playing the Noj at carrot rd on mon nite and would welcome our support!!! At least we might see some football!!!! see ya awl there and enjoy the season!

Nice report mate, pretty much sums it all up!

Is it just me or do we get it at the back, get to the final third....and then were clueless!!! No one seems to know how to get into the box, create space, its a nightmare, we just totally lack whats needed when we get to the box.

Another thing, what is it with Supple taking quick goal kicks to his bloody left/right backs, WHAT IS THE USE OF IT?! Twice yesterday he put Casement under pressure from his stupid pass, one of which was so sh*te it went out of play. The guy seriously has to learn how to kick a damn ball upfield!

Good report LnP, sums it up for me too. I found myself wondering what the pink thing on the pitch near the Cobbold stand was, turned out to be a large paper bag, that along with other litter that kept blowing across the pitch, it was probably more interesting than the other rubbish we were paying to watch. :D
