Big Fat Sam
Just listened to his interview on BBC web site. He is really keen for the England job and I for one, would love to see him given a chance.
Hes got experience, guts (balls) and PASSION!, something that I think has been lacking with England for a long time.
Cool , calm play will get us so far, but Sams passion would be that extra gel for the team!

well I expect Crouch would be the first name he'd pencil in if he were England Boss since he would be the perfect striker for Sam's usual style of play..but I dont know how easy "hoooof ball" would sit at International level!nicscreamer wrote:Just listened to his interview on BBC web site. Totally agree. And I do honestly believe Bolton are more than a 'hoof ball' team.nicscreamer wrote:Just listened to his interview on BBC web site. He is really keen for the England job and I for one, would love to see him given a chance.

Ai, I'd be far happier with big Sam than Mclaren. O'Neil would still be my personal choice though.nicscreamer wrote:I saw some of the bolton game today, and they played some nice sharp football.
Anyway, i would like to think that with the quality of players Sam would have, he would be able to get the best style out of them
Agreed mate, In my eyes Mclaren is a reincarnation of The old Villa manager Taylor mixed with Howard Wilkinson! Both boring twats!Mork wrote:Ai, I'd be far happier with big Sam than Mclaren. Bring in Martin O'Neil! Best man for the job no doubts

The problem with Mclaren not getting the job is....someone like Pearce would never accept the "assistant" role. As it will plainly evident that if you are the assistant, you will be tarred with the same brush that eventually befell the existing manager - and everyone will want a change, not a natural succession. Rather see Pierce left out for a few more years, then put in when he's done a good 5+ years in the Premiership - but I definitely want him as England Manager, the passion itself should make up for any deficit in skill or talent - his personallity alone could will players to perform, they'd be too bloody terrified not to.Luke wrote:I feel Pearce is too young atm, Maybe drop him in as O'Neils assitant much in the way Boring Mclaren is with Svenis Pennisloudnproud wrote:Luke your comments on Mcclaren being a "Boring old boot" fits into the FA's way of doing things entirely!!! Spot on. Not only is Sam an arsehole but he's a manager who has gained success through his good use of the transfer market, with this not at his disposal as an international manager, I honestly feel he would be average at best. O'Neil for me.Riviera wrote:big fat sam is an arsehole, id hate him to be our national coach, we'd have a team of 30 somethings playing every game
o neil would be my choice, mclaren is just not good enough

I for one don't wanna see Kevin Nolan in an England shirt, no thank you.

The Sam haters are missing the point. Hes only taken a team of 30 somethingers from the transfer market , because that is all he can do. He doesnt have masses of money at his disposal and so cuts his cloth to fit.
Give him the choice of Englands best and I feel he would shine.
In an ideal world , Martin Oneil would be my first choice with Arsene Wenger as close second. But that aint gonna happen is it!
Of all the "front runners" Big sam is the only one with the nouce and guile to suceed

I think there is aa logic to what you say - but I suppose my biggets reservation is his lack of experience at the very highest level - that doesnt mean he couldnt learn of course ...but do we really want an England manager just on the basis of what his nationality is - or what he can offer in terms of development of the England squad.nicscreamer wrote:The Sam haters are missing the point. No disrespect intended to any Bolton fans that mey be reading this - but the calibre of players in the squad he would be in charge of have light years more experience of football at the very highest level - what the hell could Sam "offer" them , in the International arena?

McLaren has grown on me more considering Middlesbrough's escapades in Europe,.having known he's ballsed up his initial formation and changing it, unlike Eriksson who seems to play it the same way all through the game.phily bon bon wrote:Like most I´d love O´neill as a first choice then arsene wenger and then big sam.For me maclaren does´nt even come into the picture for me.
