Does he know his best team?

Does anybody? His coaching staff isn't exactly full of experience. At the moment far as I see he's juggling his players around searching for something to click.

Like most I really want PC to succeed, he does seem the most honest and enthusiastic manager we had for some time, but until whoever plays cut out the stupid mistakes then his clock is ticking for the owners cannot ignore this for too much longer

This is his best team:

Hladky
Vincent-Young - Edmundson - Burgess - Coulson
Harper - Morsy (c)
Burns - Norwood - Edwards
Bonne

Or perhaps the same players in a conventional 4-4-2

Hladky
Vincent-Young - Edmundson - Burgess - Coulson
Burns - Harper - Morsy (c) - Edwards
Bonne - Norwood

Bench: Walton, Donacien, Celina, Piggott, Woolfie, Penney, Carroll

He is certainly not a “quality” juggler like Paul Lambert though, S&J.

These feckin overpaid tw@ts on the park should step up. That team picked by Paul Cook on saturday was the team 9 out of 10 ITFC fans would've picked….. no question at all. Was a colossal let down. Defensively, they need to take their fingers out their arses…….. and Cookie??…. He needs to put more faith in Valclav because he’s a decent keeper.
Club have had Loach, Gerken, Holy etc etc over the years……. All mediocre crap…… Valclav is better. If any centre back pairing could play worth a fk, then that help the case.

Ftr, Opposite applies at Hibs. I do not rate Marciano at all. But the defence are solid on most days so his awfulness is masked.

Agree with the back four.

I think he’ll go with Morsy and Evans. I’m hoping Evans improves beside Morsy without the armband.

As for the front four. Burns deserves to keep his place. Probably Bonne, too. Edwards also. But there could be so many combinations. There’s ‘marquee’ signings who wouldn’t even make the 18. Celina didn’t come here to be on the bench. And there’s many more like that.
Concerned about KVY as teams tend to target our right-side and he looks weak defensively.

With respect BlueBalls that may well be best team in your opinion, but Vincent-Young had a total nightmare against Bolton. By all accounts Donacien was lot better

Right now quite simply put the players have to make Cook pick them, and I see very few players especially at the back making claims for their places

Thank Christ my broadband was down last night ( I’m staying Derbyshire this week!), so I had no idea at all I’d the score until about an hour ago .

OmG how much longer can PC survive this ? It’s a results industry and he is producing all the wrong sort . I kinda feel sorry for him in one respect , but seeing that team selection last night , it’s his own fault in many ways . Wtf was he going making all those changes ????

If we lost the next 3 or 4 he'd be gone.

These results are (or are already) becoming indefensible.

Cook should have put out his best team. Getting a result against anyone at the moment is the most important thing. It’s stacking up. It doesn’t matter if a senior player gets an injury in a game like this because they can just as easily pick up an injury in training.

Morsy looked good and what we need, but he’ll pick up bookings throughout the season and get banned. Disappointed in Carroll - thought he gave the ball away too much. Norwood’s got a chance in the starting line up as he’s always hassling defences and looked sharp. We need that bit of niggle in the team along with Morsy. He might be worth a shot in defence as he was our best defender from set-pieces.
As for Holy. I don’t understand why Hladky or Walton wasn’t given a chance. How many more times can Holy be allowed to invent more f*ck-up’s?
Word perfect, I like the look of Morsy, I said same last night about Carroll, gave it away so often

My concern is that we seem to be getting worse each week rather than showing any sign of improvement.
I have also noticed that in the 2nd half of games the opposition seem to take control and I’m not sure this is just down to fitness levels but also other managers changing tactics and PC failing to adjust to this. As I said last night this really can’t continue for too long before the owners take action.
Anyhow, I’m now going to forget about ITFC for the next couple of days (at least until Saturday) and enjoy the rest of my holiday.

I think we do have to admit that so far we've not been able to play what Cook probably sees as his best Eleven which I believe will be....

Walton
Kvy
Edmundson
Burgess
Coulsen
Evans
Morsy
Burns
Edwards
Celina
Bonne

Personally I would go with

Hladky
Donacien
Edmundson
Burgess
Coulsen
Morsy
Harper
Burns
Edwards
Fraser
Pigott

Read the game report from a rival site, no prizes, and while gave the event a complete miss some of the fan reaction seemed extreme. While would not wish for the club to lose any fixture can't look beyond it were essentially an immaterial game in a piece of crap "competition", don't always understand the need to be involved in these futile endeavors.

The nature in which we were beaten i.e. a spot kick with seconds remaining will have grated and it provided a chance for Cook to experiment and deploy a much changed squad from the Bolton debacle. Holy seems to gather a number of detractors and it's arguable if Walton should have featured again after the horrendous debut last weekend. Not sure what goalkeeper will start for Lincoln but someone's going to have a task that day and then some.

I judge the manager on proper games, something with substance, can't look beyond last night was somethng apathetic. The reaction from some quarters was standard procedure for many. Best course of action move on quick from yesterday and focus on greater objectives ahead. West Ham at one time had one of the greatest youth academies you could find, guess some of the kids they got are useful and it were a top level club name we played last night. Can understand certain disappointments but the Lincoln game is primary focus here as was Bolton before it.

Going to throw it out there, I know the defence is a shambles at present but with Morsy coming in that should hopefully add abit of steel in DM...

Hladky
KVY Burgess Coulson
Morsy
Burns Harper Evans Edwards
Fraser
Bonne

or

Hladky

KVY Burgess Coulson
Morsy Harper
Burns Edwards
Fraser Norwood/Celina/Chaplin
Bonne

Or play Fraser and Norwood as CAM's and support for Bonne. Yet to see Celina or Chaplin as yet so he could be an option for Norwood.

I think Edmundson will come good. I think Cookie will too although I feel a little more uncomfortable than I expected to be this soon.
I can’t believe how many fans want more disruption and start again, that would be madness so soon into the new season.
Unlike with Paul Hurst I still believe this Paul will come good although even he may have under estimated the size of the job and made a few mistakes.

Totally agree with the above. It has been excruciatingly painful to accept at times and reading back to PC's comments (EADT) on 20th August does not help...

"Cook continued: “I don’t mind saying this, we will look to after Wimbledon at home, when everyone will hopefully be fit and available. We will then be training a first full week together and going to Wycombe. So I think probably post Wycombe you’ll see us up and running.

“Whatever the results are until there we’ll see. The more positive the better. But the more time we get together will only see us improve as a team. "

They had a full 2 weeks together and while not having everybody fit, the numbers of injuries we are talking about should not be an issue to a club with a squad and resources like ours. Sadly the performance level and confidence seem to have taken a downward turn.

I still believe PC should be given more time. When Morsy comes in in 3 games time things need to take (or have taken) a dramatic turn for the better.

If only it was that easy to rebuild a football team we’d have 64 teams in the Premier League.

…..The countdown begins PC your on a 10 game judgement programme, the clock is ticking the fans are getting restless you've got 10 league games to improve the results….

Ash??? 10 game programme? Ten games from now? Starting at Lincoln? That doesnt make ONE OUNCE of any sense? So if the next three are defeats, (certainly not confident about Lincoln) and the club are 24th, then someone in the club will say,
“NO, not yet……. Still 7 to go!” 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It could be a heavy 4-0 @ Sincil, i reckon next Monday could be significant if that happens.
Marco our owners are a very patient lot, they knew it would take time to get our strongest team out and gelling together, and PC was very confident he was going to hit the ground running, BUT, we know that you need to keep your mouth shut as actions speak louder than words, and our owners didn't expect these results with 19 new players coming in, as I stated earlier PC needs an experienced assistant beside him like he had at Chesterfield, Wigan, and Portsmouth, he is absolutely lost on his own and the results are proving me right, I remember a certain Roy Keane saying promotion would be easy and proved he's an absolute gobby tosser.
Saturday against Lincoln away I'm sure we will lose as our defence is crap, and cookie has done little or nothing of note to improve the leaky defence. so after Lincolns game there's maybe 8 matches to go, which should take us into November, and if we haven't got a win by then and the leading pack getting well ahead on points, it would take a near miracle to get promoted, I might be wrong and they say goodbye earlier.
But I can only see one result at the moment and that's Cookie going, and we seeking yet another incumbent to take up the reins, also he needs to make our squad smaller and more manageable as we still have far too many players on our books, and he's always worked with small squads in the past.
