It seems he's fallen out with the manager and has not started a game since October and has reluctantly agreed to go out on loan, but looks a good versatile player.

From what I gather, he's coming here despite having more guarantees of playing time from the other interested clubs.
That's from Phil on TWTD.

I can't say I'm keen on loans but we just have to trust KMc I guess.
I feel becuase we are going for promo loans might make sense, as.....

1) you could buy players who then if you get promoted aren't good enough for the PL
2) you buy PL players on PL money and it A) upsets the sqaud harmony B) if you don't get promoted you have a big wage bill and struggle to add more players next window

VERY difficult to sign players in Jan who might be PL ready yet don't cost a fortune in (in a fee and/or wages).

Suspect they will mainly go for loans and re-asses in the summer depending where we are, if in the champ they will look for young talent again and if in the Prem they will probably want to make 6-8 big signings.
I say carry on as normal and don’t think promotion. Ipswich Town Fc are sitting second in the league and not one player is anywhere near PL Standard, with the exception of “maybe” Sam Morsy.
I’d be recruiting in the Jan window with decent Championship level players.

FTR, I personally feel , (and please, its only an opinion) ….. promotion this season could be damaging to ITFC. The owners did want to come to Town and make big differences……, but they could potentially make them too fast. A 2024/25 season of Ipswich being as* rammed every week wouldn't be beneficial at all. The fickle fans wouldn’t tolerate it. A Yeovil Town scenario could happen.
A few years as a challenging Championship side like George Burley’s team, then who knows, 5th place finish in the EPL?
Yeah, maybe not…….. long story short……. Wouldn’t be bringing in PL level players in THIS window.

Its a very valid oppinon, I would say a few might step up - and Davis will likely be a prem player next year regardless if its with us or not.

The challenge we have is it would take years to really build a side full of top Championship/low prem players and then even if you go up you still need a fairly big rebuild, the gap is HUGE now - just look at how Burnley are struggling despite smashing the league last year.

IMO muych as I don't want to say it - if and when we go up I think we might go and get 6-8 signings and spend some fairly good money, huge risk but it has just about worked for Forrest, Fulham etc and Villa are thriving now after going fairly big on spending. Of course the fallout if it goes wrong is massive, high risk high reward.

Its just very hard to keep players of any sort 2-3 years now so its likely the squad will keep changing, so even if promotion comes now (which is too early I agree) then we may just attack it. Otherwise you lose another 20-40m just sat in the champ for another 2 years, you may as well get up and throw that into the 50m+ you probably already might spend.

Keeping KM is naturally key too, if we can go up, back him and turn into a Fulham, Brighton, Villa, Brenftord etc then that would be the goal/dream.

Something strange here, the player is contracted at Blackburn Rovers until summer 2026, the club rejected an 800k offer from Millwall in the summer just gone, and the player didn’t want to go out on loan. Non of this really makes sense. I just hope he’s got his head round it and is now looking forward to working with McKenna and playing for Town. He’s certainly in the same mould as Sam Morsy as I see he’s currently on 7 yellow cards from far fewer minutes played than Sam who we could well see him stand in for against Sunderland and Leicester City in our next two Championship fixtures. Let’s hope he settles quickly as he has the potential of being an excellent acquisition and I really like this try before you buy way of doing business as it really reduces the chances of making a mistake for both club and player.

Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has outlined his reasons for loaning skipper Lewis Travis to the Blues, a move revealed by TWTD this morning but yet to be confirmed.

Travis is at Portman Road today to complete the formalities on his switch to the Blues, Town having fought off competition from Millwall, who had an £800,000 bid rebuffed in the summer, and Preston.

The 26-year-old has started only two of Blackburn’s last 10 matches, leading to speculation that there might have been some sort of fallout between the manager and his captain.

However, the former Denmark international forward says that’s not the case.

“I have absolutely no problem with Trav, we all know he wanted to leave in the summer and then also wanted to go in October,” Tomasson told RoversTV.

“He wanted to play the number six position, at the moment we have [Sondre] Tronstad playing very well in that position.

“He's one of the more expensive boys in our group. So will free some space up in the financial department to get some players in as well.”

Blackburn have announced the signing of another midfielder, Yasin Ayari, on loan from Brighton.

I actually agree, while we all want promotion it's not a disaster should it not happen this season, I actually think the owners and powers that be would be shocked should it happen so fast.

I seriously doubt Town would be signing a rotten apple. We do our due diligence I think. I think the Blackburn manager is trying cover us as* frankly. He’s just loaned out their captain to a rival lol …. Bet we sign him in the summer .

Would not be surprised if it is a case of the Venky’s wanting to cut the wage bill.

If he’s good enough he could be Sam’s replacement for the Sunderland and Leicester City games, they would be a good test for him.

Minimum need now is at least one striker and ideally two strikers snd a central defender but I suspect we don’t be seeing 5 new faces in this window.

Town have rebuffed a number of low six-figure bids for midfielder Idris El Mizouni, who is currently on loan with League One Leyton Orient.

According to the EADT, League One quartet Barnsley, Bolton Wanderers, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers, who TWTD first revealed were keen on the Tunisian international in January 2022, have all had offers turned down by the Blues, who it’s understood would be willing to sell the 23-year-old at the right price during this window.

In addition to those four, we understand Derby, who we revealed in May were keen on the Paris-born schemer along with a number of other sides, continue to keep a watching brief.

El Mizouni is in his second season on loan at Orient with his Town contract up in the summer but with the Blues having an option for a further season.

Elsewhere, we understand Charlton Athletic, another of the clubs keen on El Mizouni in the summer, have joined Oxford in showing interest in former Blues forward Armando Dobra, now with Chesterfield.

The Albanian U21 international’s contract with Town was terminated by mutual consent in the summer of 2022.

This is precisely our aim to copy the Brentford way of buying and selling players to maintain a Premiership status by buying very good younger players to develop and then sell for profit while keeping a quality squad able enough to compete at the highest level.

There is still talk of Fulham recalling Jay Stansfield from his loan at Birmingham, as Town have been in extensive ongoing talks to loan in Stansfield for the rest of the season.
What could scupper this arrangement it looks very likely that Mogga could become Brum's next manager and is currently in talks with the Brum owner about the vacant position, he won't want to see any departures until he's assessed all the player squad situation.
So let's hope Fulham recall the lad over this weekend and we can hopefully conclude the deal by next week.

Just reading Travis’ interview. He didn’t bang on about Ipswich being a big club and about what a great opportunity this is to work with KM. He just wants to play football and prove his worth. I like his honesty. Perform on the pitch, and he’ll have the supporters full backing. We needed a backup for Morsy, and Travis sounds like he has the credentials. I’ll judge later.

On another note, I’m sure everyone has read Delia’s statement on the car attack before the derby. Strangely, I tend to agree with her disappointment. The club leadership should have made a public statement condemning the behavior of certain thugs who hide behind our colors.

The club cannot be held responsible for one stupid idiots actions outside the stadium, furthermore, they were offered a police escort to enter the stadium behind their own teams coach but instead chose to follow the Town bus through the welcome party, how bloody stupid are they ? Personally I believe they did it on purpose but they were damn lucky it was just a can.

She got what she deserved. They showed zero respect for Ipswich Town FC and our supporters.

They were given the opportunity to come in behind their own team bus.
They were advised to arrive a specific time for policing matters, but no, the arrogant bitch decides they will travel through a designated : pre organised Town fans greeting of their team bus with her driving blasting his horn at Town fans!!! She’s lucky they only had ONE beer can land on her car bonnet. Just who the f******* does she think she is???

Smith and her cronies and her shower of shyte for a club are tinpot from top to bottom.

I can't believe what I've just read. Football tribalism has a lot to answer for.

Yes, not the best idea ever granted. But hardly warrants having a can thrown at your car. Can't understand how anyone could justify such mindless behaviour. Good god.

I did not “ justifying” the can throwing.

But surely you can see / acknowledge that Smith should take responsibility for her own arrogant and totally ill advised actions??

What did she EXPECT would happen? Her actions were on the cusp of crowd incitement.

Put it another way. A Town fan is advised to follow a pre organised route to the carrow road stadium by the police. The fan is advised to arrive at a certain time.

The fan decides, no, I will drive straight through the homes fans blasting my car horn …. “I’m here … I’m here…. I’m an Ipswich fan… get out of MY way, don’t you know who I am!!” … carnage ensues …. WHO is at fault?

It has sod all to go with “ tribalism” but EVERYTHING to do with respect, taking police / guest club advice.

You call it tribalism- I call it Smiths sheer arrogance and pig headedness. Whilst I don’t condone the actions of the incited Town fans. I fully understand the response of A FEW!!

If anyone needs to “ grow up” it’s that two faced bitch who owns norwich….. 1 hour later she’s posing for pictures with Ed Sheeran . The Two faced cow

(So) She takes issue with the hood of her vehicle hit by a stray beer container whereas years back performed an inebriated rant at Carrow Road (Let's be Having You et cetera) but that's all well and good. Wonder if she ever apologized for that. She wants now something of a public apology from our club but not sure how far she's going to get.

It were a mistake to begin with entering a heavily populated area of our own fanbase as a pivotal figure of our biggest rivals. She knew the risks involved, it weren't no smart move. If you put your head in a lions mouth you can expect some level of danger. I don't condone the actions of whoever were responsible but it ain't no crime of the century.

Just appears in retrospect something of an isolated incident that already has run it's course and with a little tact and discretion, could just have easily been avoided.

Moving this along, note we are now at 26 senior players - 1 above the limit. Naturally it’s likely Lee Evans will be removed, but others must be close to the door now (Jackson, Ladapo, Williams being sent back? JD? Aluko etc)

I know some suggested taking Hirst out the squad but if there is even a slim chance he could be back for the end of the season then I’d leave him in. I don’t think you can change the registrations again for the rest of the season after the end of Jan deadline

Hmmm. I think I would be happy in every way for us to get promoted and with parachute payments I would trust our management to make us stronger even if we do come back down after 1 season in the Prem.
