Interesting that TWTD saying we are looking at two not previously revealed targets...
I think Kenny Dalgleish was seen in town this afternoon...

Happy to hear the Broja deal is off. Can’t help thinking Chelsea were trying to take advantage of us. They’re desperate to off load players to balance the books.
Certainly hope we get a viable replacement, but if we fail to bring in another striker we’ll have to find goals from others. Once the squad is settled, I don’t see that will be a problem. Hopefully Delap will stay healthy though.
Does anyone believe Phillips can find his stride again? If anyone can bring his form back it’s McKenna.

I'd be very pleasantly surprised if he does. For me, Morsy's love for the club he's poured his heart in to and his desire will make him very hard for Phillips to top. I just think Phillip's head is in all kinds of trouble after the few years he's been through, and he has to find some desire, clarity and purpose to find some form again.

Completely agree, at present it's chalk and cheese.Ricco wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 7:17 pmI'd be very pleasantly surprised if he does. What's happened to Phillips for him to be " in a mess"? He's a multi millionaire footballer, who maybe cant get regular games...boo hoo.

I think Phillips previous level of performance can be restored and if anyone can facilitate that McKenna is most likely one of them.
What we have to remember is that he was brought up in poverty by a single mum with a dad in prison and football particularly at Leeds where he was a phenomenal
player changed his life. With hindsight the move to Man City destroyed him and when he moved to West Ham nothing much changed as the fans refused to accept him and added to his previous destruction of confidence.
If only Kieran and the fans can put their arms around him and help restore his confidence I believe we will find the player he once was. He’s been in a bad place just give the guy a chance.
Sometimes in life money means nothing especially when you’re not happy, there are far more important things in life.

Here here Charnwood!
Lets give the guy a break, im sure he will come good again if we can just give the bloke a chance and we can get him back to how he used to be we will have a decent player.
Just imagine him and Morsy together when both on form, exciting.

Yes health & happiness are far more important than money, people desensitise,a new sports car every week is boring, I hope Phillips still has something left to give.Charnwood wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 9:25 pmI think Phillips previous level of performance can be restored and if anyone can facilitate that McKenna is most likely one of them.

Here you go Mike - On EADT, though the source of the report is questionable

The Daily Mail (at around 8:30am on their transfer live blog) have reported that Ipswich are 'eyeing a move' for Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath.
The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in 30 Championship games last season (just 23 starts), bagging the opener against Town at Portman Road back in April.
He's incredibly quick and strong, but isn't a tall centre-forward that likes to hold up the ball. A good finisher, he's also a senior international. Don't think he'd come cheap on deadline day. One to watch, and one we'll try and verify ASAP

Middlesbrough are leading the race to sign Ipswich defender George Edmundson on loan before tonight’s transfer deadline. #ITFC #Boro
Why would we loan him unless we were going to sign Latte lath
Edmondson has only a year left so it's almost a free transfer and with several clubs interested we could surely sell him there must be something in it.
Why would we loan him unless we were going to sign Latte lath

Cash plus player swap or loan with mandatory purchase at season end? OK Edmundson is not going to command much of a fee, but this could still then benefit both clubs:
.George Edmundson has been linked with a departure for a little while now........
.........of the five Championship teams, Middlesbrough are reportedly leading the race bring him in on a season-long loan. That one comes from our sister paper, The Northern Echo

Maybe Middlesbrough would like to sign Broja so that Lath can leave

Quite a high fee? Almost rather see us spend £25-30 to get someone like Nketiah - probably wouldn’t come here and I guess wages would be far higher

This is exactly the guy we need, much better than any of the other links, get it done !!
Regarding Phillips, who isn't giving the guy a break? He'll get his chance just the same as anyone else, commenting on his performance the other night, isn't having a go at him, certainly not my comments, he was poor and looked way of it, unless people want to make out he was excellent, he wasn't, it was just on the night, people need to chill.

Personally I'd be very disappointed in getting Lath, and would consider it a panic buy, I'd rather back Delap, that's for sure. Lath for me is someone who peppers the goal and something will end up going in every other game in the Championship, but I don't see it in the Prem, he seems very short on quality and is only about goals, not teamwork, build up etc.

You think Ricco ? I've always been very keen on him although admittedly seeing his lack of teamwork is not something I would probably have noticed and it would be of concern, although isn't that where KM weaves his magic as with the other signings ? I still think he's the best name mentioned by far, Delap can't do it all by himself, that's certain.

Agree Mike my only concern is he is only 5ft 10 but is good in the air, certainly is much better than Broja and Foster who's fitness and mind would be a concern plus they would have cost more assuming we stay up.
That should read when we stay up

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
I'm probably being harsh, but he just doesn't seem a very McKenna player to me, more of a classic poacher. For example he plays an average 9 passes per match and had 1 assist last season, while Foster averaged 19 passes and had 3 assists in less minutes in a higher division. Obviously it's not what they'll be brought in to do, but I think McKenna will want someone who can get their foot on the ball and contribute a bit more.Bluemike wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:17 amYou think Ricco ? More bloody stats I apologise, and my view isn't just based on them, but Foster was involved (I hate that word too) in 20% of Burnley's goals and Lath was involved in 24% of Boro goals, it's not too night and day. Denkey was involved in 47% of his club's goals, while the league quality is obviously more debatable (based on estimated player values, it's essentially on par with the Championship), his team was very mid table (W17 D9 L14), so it's not like they were romping over teams all season. I'd say of the 3, he would be the one I'd take a punt on, but none of them really excite me.

I love the stats, sometimes they are meaningless but equally sometimes they tell a lot.
I suppose on this occasion it comes down to what you prefer Ricco, a Latte or a Fosters ?

Considering I've seemingly reached an age where a mere couple of pints of ale will send me in to a savage 4 day depression, one where I wish to destroy the world... I think I'll stick with Latte
