Nelson can play left and right to be fair. I agree the Obenge signings is weird though and I’m not a fan of it. My point was more around the selling of our players as they won’t be worth much because championship teams don’t have much money, and the fringe players won’t be going to Leeds or such.

I thought Nelson was more of an attacking midfielder than a wide manshabba wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 10:23 pmNelson can play left and right to be fair. I thought he usually came on and played wide right? I most definitely could be wrong though. Haven’t seen loads of him, but he looked a threat when i have seen him.

They are saying that Fulham have hijacked Nelson move.

With no additional striker signed it's ended in disappointment for me and I think we'll fall short in that department now, very frustrating.

What am I missing? If there was enough of a medical issue to put us off this deal, why would Everton invest in him? Are we just more risk averse? Does anyone have an insight?

All this time in the window and we couldn't sign a single out-and-out striker that we so desperately need, loads of possibles but nothing chased a crock from Chelsea who's gone to Everton' to me everywhere else is covered Our only hope now is to look for a free agent striker

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Could a striker loan deal still happen or is that window closed too ? Maybe George Hirst is closer to a comeback than we think as he’s just as good as some of the players we’ve been linked with and given done of the attacking midfielders we have he should get service like he’s never experienced before.
If all else fails we’ll have to spend big in January to fill the striker gap.

Broja to Everyon with NO compulsory transfer next season. Chelsea desperate to offload or we couldt do the deal?
Why couldn't we sign a striker?

When Town stay up , next seasons window will be much different.hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:39 amBroja to Everyon with NO compulsory transfer next season. Chelsea desperate to offload or we couldt do the deal?

New kids on the block who many say are destined to go back down.
That I believe is the reason we didn't get a good striker , plus we don't have deep pockets
to take risks. ffp rules as well.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
My biggest disappointment was seeing Leicester City sign Odsonne Edouard from Crystal Palace and Reiss Nelson from Arsenal to Fulham because I think both players would have been a good fit. It hasn’t happened and players have every right to make their own choice, I guess with Neilson it’s far less unsettling to simply stay in London with zero upset to his personal life. I think with Edouard maybe we missed out because our focus was elsewhere.hallamblue wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 12:39 amBroja to Everyon with NO compulsory transfer next season. Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Even after the above disappointment, if Liam Delap fulfils his potential with Omari Hutchinson, Sammy Szmodics and Jack Clarke sitting fight behind him we should have enough goals in this attacking group to keep us up.
If this attacking unit was offered to us at the start of the window we’d have all thought wow, what a fantastic transfer window this has been. On top of this we have the classy Jem’s Cajuste to play alongside Morsy, O’Shea and Greaves in central defence and new keeper Muric albeit yet to convince us plus another handful of players to strengthen the squad eg, Townsend, Johnson and Ogbene this week from Luton.
Of course I’ve not even mentioned Kalvin Phillips who could well be the shrewdest signing of all.
Come on guys and girls let’s take the positives out of this. At the start of this thread most of us were thinking we’d sign half a dozen players and not spend more than £10m on any player. We’ve way surpassed this annd spent more than £100m and are in a much stronger place than we were when we won promotion. Furthermore the average age of our signings is only 24 with plenty of upside on the valuations of at least half of them.
Let’s not allow the lack of a late striker acquisition distract us from the fact this has been a fantastic transfer window for us, probably the best in the history of our football club
Let’s just get behind them and focus on the positives because in truth we should all still be in dreamland.

Also Word from me and remember all those goals we scored last season only 15 % were scored by Hirst and Moore.

Re: Transfer Rumours - New Signings for Towns Premier League Squad 2024/25
Yeah - it's easy to feel a little underwhelmed and disappointed by the failure of MA to secure an out and out striker, and the striking options of Delap and Hurst do not suggest a lot of goals coming from that department. But regardless of who you have up front, you need to create chances for them to stick away and hopefully the players we have got in will help with that.
But considering neither Hirst or Delap are prolific scorers, I think KM is going to have to play 2 up front to give them a bit of help.

We all know nobody plays 2 up front.
As others said the goals will need to come from those behind the striker like last season etc.

I think you’ll find Southampton sometimes line up 3-5-2 but they’re the only team in the Premier League that do.
