Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
I’d like to see us sign him on a permanent minimum 3yr or even 4yr deal given his age. I don’t think we’ll attract better to the Championship and we know he can play at Prem level too.

But Town have had an offer on the table gor Axel to dign for dime mo ths niw and it's still unsigned. This tells me he wants to leave.... maybe WE should be looking elsewhere ourselves now?

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
I think our top 3 priorities should be replacements for Burgess, Delap & Morsy/Cajuste maybe for both CM’s given we’ve also lost Luongo.
Maybe now it’s looking likely McKenna will definitely be here for at least another season let’s get on with it and get our business done early.

If a fairly big club are pulling the plug on a deal following extensive medical etc I think its a bit daft that we should be looking to offer him a deal, and it's abundantly clear he doesn't want to be here, get rid I say.

Missed the sale, hallam, but they'll still be cheap. Probably cheaper than a Portman Road Pie & Coffee combo!

Ach, you guys are MILES ahead of us. We're still allowed bevvy in the ground. We can't be trusted!

Long story short, 1996, Gravesend & Northfleet v Sittingbourne game....., 8 Scottish gas installers at the game......., and there was A BAR in The Stonebridge Road stadium!

Just the pie & coffee these days will suffice!

O'Shea resigning is a big one for me. Hands down our best defender last year and Prem quality in my view. I am suprised he has but very pleased.
Next season's captain possibly.

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
If I had to pick between O’Shea and Hutchinson, I’d take O’Shea every time. He’s a quality defender and shows leadership qualities. I really like Hutch, but he’s just not consistent enough for me. I also hope we retain Tuanzebe even with his injury record; when fit he’s also quality.EveryoneKnowsaDave wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 6:20 pmO'Shea resigning is a big one for me. My main concern is obviously a replacement for Delap, and a rebuilding of our midfield. We really need midfielders who are comfortable attacking and defending. Our MF had a dismal record scoring in the PL, and they certainly were not consistent defensively. I’m really hoping Szmodics and J. Clarke get their mojo back and start banging in a few.
Plenty of time to get some deals done. I’m not worried at the moment.

I remember sitting in the side stand at Ibrox in 1985/6 and watch Rangers beat Falkirk 4-0. We sat on wooden bences, and there were 2 fans behind us, well oiled. . One of them tapped me on the shoulder and said " does yew wanna drank?".... handing me a half full litre bottle of whiskey

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
I’m not sure he’s ours to get rid of Mike. As of the start of next season he’s a free agent to go wherever he pleases
or wherever he gets the best deal. You seem to forget sometimes this is work/employment for these guys and like everyone else in employment they go where they get the best salary and terms and conditions. It has absolutely nothing to do with where they do or don’t want to be. That only comes into play when the terms are identical of very similar. I know this from first hand experience.

I bet O'Shea would have had better options but he committed himself to us, that's the sort of person I want here.

They will take everything into account, salary, contract length, level of club, playing time, how settled they are in current location etc.

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
That’s a ridiculous comparison Mike. O’Shea was already contracted to Town until August 2029 and simply extended it 10 months to June 2030, probably to match a potential 5yr contract offer elsewhere.
Meanwhile Tuanzebe is out of contract and a free agent to negotiate his own personal terms with no transfer fee involved. At this moment he has no connection to Ipswich Town other than we are one of his former clubs. We chose to allow that situation to happen just as Liverpool did with Trent Alexander.
In his situation he’s listening to offers and if we want him we have to pay what he’s worth. I don’t have a problem with that.

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
Yeah i accept that, I just hate this type of situation to be honest, we pretty much rescued him from the scrap heap when his career was going nowhere, what my issue is that he may well end up staying if nothing better comes along, I just dislike that scenario whether it's Tuanzebe or anyone else, I know that's the way it works but I sure as hell don't have to like it.
My biggest concern is he's a bit of a crock, again we have no room for that this time around, last season was horrendous for injuries, a biggish club have given him a vigorous once over and said no thanks, as Hallam alluded to, maybe it's us who should be looking elsewhere.

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
I was speaking to a friend last week about Axel , and he said, Axel is probably now taking the more mercenary approach , given his poor injury record will probably prevent him from ever being offered a deal by a top PL club. So hes had an offer from Town , and it currently unsigned . Its reasonable at his age now to look around and see what other offers might come in. Hes looking for contract length as much as wage level Id think ... I suspect Town may only be offering him a 1 or 2 yr contract...

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Thread / Rumours
I thought we had a 1 year option to extend Axel's contract.
Perhaps we've said we want to change the conditions to that, thus making it a new contract.
But I could be wrong

David Ornstein is normally pretty reliable, wonder how the medical will go.

Sign for someone a day after someone else drops out, hedging his bets then. Good luck to him but I feel it's done us a favour.

I think the Misses gave him an ultimatum. She obviously wears the pants in the family judging by his dish washing injury. Good luck mate! You’ll only be sitting on the bench, so make sure you stretch your back. Take care!

Can't see what contract length he has signed there.
