Birmingham are going for it, spending big etc.

How can they do it yet we had to be careful with the £? Ie because of the Financial rules, not because we didn’t have the money.

Inflated sponsorship deals? Just seems odd.
Probably as difficult an opening game As we could have got.

Indeed they are. Goes to show that the deals are available at the moment, but for some reason all we have brought in is a goalkeeper that we don't need. And I see that Besiktas are close to signing Cajuste on a deal that would surely have been easy for us to afford.

At the moment, I'm inclined to think that my opinion of a few weeks ago - that all the proceeds from the parachute payment etc will end up in a US pension fund - was not too far off the mark.

I don’t agree with that, they want the team in the prem long term - as the asset value of the club will be high and that’s their then chance to move it on for a profit. They don’t care about £40m when they have spent more than that already. It would make no sense from a business point of view to take a little money now which damages the long term potential large profit.

Pension fund will be tied to assets of value mostly rather than cash.

Anyway - not sure if I’d take any of the signings Birmingham made - would they make us any better? Probably not better than what we have.
Just amazes me they can do it, I suspect there is some dodgy skirting of the rules going on.

Also on Cajuste - if we cant justify the wages he would want maybe that’s the reason, make no sense bringing him here on 50k a week, way ahead of the highest earners etc and unsettled the squad and financial balance. Those Turkish teams can pay quite high wages.

I also thought today, maybe we still need to sell before we can spend big? Was Delap the sale to mostly balance the books? Maybe Omari needs to be sold before we can spend out.
I know it’s all these deals nowadays are all amortised - but we maybe need to be careful around the max loss rules in the three year cycle. We could spend this year but would be in real trouble if we don’t go up as we only get 2 years parachute payments (saints and Leicester get three as in the prem longer).

I do wonder if we're after and going to secure that Burnley midfielder who wasn't involved in their pre season training Hes their captain. ..... it's very quiet i know but i think our targets are higher quality and associated with PL clubs, eg, That Chelsea striker i think we're after but nothing will be done until the CWC ( load of cobblers that competition is), finishes at the end of next week. I think things will start to move from next week

Ps one or two clubs are signing a lot of players but not sure about the quality. Narwich have signed about 4 so far
