What is the main reason why promotion isn't secured?

I would personally say away form, but the signing of scowcroft wasn't a brilliant decision by royle (hulse!?) and the two loses against QPR and Watford coincided with Scowcroft playing

None of them, no team can be perfect, and we can still get promoted, so lets worry about this at the end of the season if we need too.

Not really just down to one thing, alothough the major slip up when we where 5 points clear at the top of the league didnt help to much!!

No-one can complain about the home form, although the two defeats in a week to Watford and QPR were appalling. 17 home wins is great, and by far the best in the league.

Away form hasn't been that good though, along with the continuing problem of conceding goals (can't even keep a clean sheet today!).

Why isn't "we arent good enough" or "wigan are better" options?

All Wigan have to do is win next week - regardless of us, that sends em up - thus, they are better than us if that happens.

Yes, as hard as it is to take, the league table at the end of the season does not lie I'm afraid. It's about 46 games this season and who does the best in them by getting the most points. Past seasons do not come into it, neither do who have the most fans etc.

no1 says most fans does, but also suspensions n injuries come into it. and after our 16 man squad isn't it the youths we have to play , whereas most teams have 20 or more b4 youth teams.
o well thats footy for ya

NONE of those options, its the fact we let in too many goals.

The reason why promotion isn't already secured?

We don't have the required number of points, simple as that!

Spot on!

However if you looked hard enough you would find other games where we could have picked up an extra couple of points, but those do tend to spring immediately to mind - particularly Reading.

Hadn't finished leaping around the front room celebrating victory when Reading equalised - God was that depressing!!

Should we fail the reasons wil be...

1. Sunderland had a bigger squad look at their bench We don't have either the squad to cope with injuries ie Kuqi or the budget to bring in decent players we couldn't bring in a Marcus Stewart so we bring in Currie and Scowcroft.

2. Wigan had the money - no fans but plenty of dosh

3. the home defeats against QPR and watford - lets face it we almost expected it the crowd atmosphere wasn't confident it has been quiet sometimes at Portman Rd born out of previous experience

4. Jim Magilton love him or hate him without him we don't have a playmaker - he demands the ball all day long but his legs can't last 90 minutes so sometimes we are passing backwards to Jim to much

5. Away Form has been poor

6. We lacked a 3rd striker to come in when Kuqi was injured - Joe has to take some responsibility along with Pablo. A fit Pablo playing for a place in the side next season might have had 10 goals and just tippped the balance.

7. One more season from McGreal , look our defence still concedes to many goals. A fit John Mcgreal would have been real competition for DeVos and Naylor

8. Loaning Bowditch out - ok he hasn't looked sharp but surely a run of games might have brought on the form that lead to a hattrick last season.

9. Bad Luck & ifs and buts - what about the penalty that wasn't at Wigan, conceding goals immeadiately after we have scored , the goal at Leicester that was disallowed for no apparent reason

10. We can't seem to cope with pressure or early kick offs last two seasons pressure games we get a big crowd in and then disappoint look at Norwich last season west ham this season
