Jay suffers blackout

Post by Diddy Dubz » Tue Dec 13, 2005 12:34 pm

Charlton Athletic are concerned over the fitness of Jay Bothroyd as he suffered a blackout when crashing his car on Monday night.

The striker experienced a similar problem several years ago and the London club are keen to discover the reasons behind the issue.

Chief executive Peter Varney is worried for the 23-year-old, who scored in the recent Premiership defeat to Manchester City.

"I have spoken to both the player and his agent this morning and Jay is currently in hospital undergoing tests," said Varney.

"We are very concerned because Jay had a blackout six years ago, and seems to have suffered a recurrence yesterday while driving.

"The car was only travelling about 10 miles per hour when it hit the post and Jay has no recollection of the entire event.

"He will now undergo neurological tests to establish why this second blackout has occurred."

Bothroyd will be hoping the problem does not affect his playing career.
